Teddy Lupin

I'm new here, so forgive me if you have already discussed this (I couldn't find anythreads on the subject).
Anyhow, I've been wondering: is Teddy a werewolf? We know from his color-changing hair that he takes after his mom, but does that mean he can't be a werewolf too? Maybe he only likes really rare meat, like Bill. I think he's probably not a werewolf just because the book dosen't say that he is, but I can't be sure.

I'll go back and read the section, but I don't think it was mentioned. Just the hair changing.

I would venture to say that if it wasn't really mentioned that it was on purpose because the world changed enough to accept Teddy as he was and he was obviously seen as attractive by Victorie, at least, versus face the discrimination that he might have under Voldermort.

I would think that one would need to be bitten to become a werewolf.
I doubt that it's heriditary.

The discrimination Lupin faced and dealing with the horrible idea of possibly hurting someone he cared with while transformed certainly bothered Lupin and why he was so afraid about getting married and then having a baby that he might pass it on to to begin with (regardless if that were superstition or real). Then, when he saw the baby he loved him and demonstrated the normal new father thrill and the fear was gone. It wouldn't have mattered because Teddy was loved.

Lupin was truly afraid it would be hereditary. I doubt it was passed on, but as Winky said, the world had changed. Without Voldemort and the death eaters stirring the pot.

The problem with prejudice though is that it weaves in and out. So for a season something can be accepted and then all of the sudden it's out of favor again. So even if Teddy has werewolf tendencies that are accepted now, if the wrong people come into power again, he could easily be in trouble again.

It's not specified anywhere in DH, only that Teddy is a Metamorphagus. We do know that either Teddy is not a werewolf, or his tendencies are minor, because he is obviously involved with Bill and Fleur's daughter, which probably would not have happened because of the anti-werewolf atmosphere.

Another possibility is that the Ministry and wizarding world in general has changed its attitude. Which would be nice, of course, but maybe a bit too perfect.

One thing that makes me think, personally, that Teddy is not a full-fledged werewolf, even if Remus feared it might be hereditary, is that the Potter family discusses Teddy being over their house often, and even him moving in. As much as they love Teddy, the tone felt a slight bit too casual for suggesting that a full werewolf live in their house, with their kids. Don't get me wrong, I love Remus and Teddy.

I'm so glad for Teddy's sake that he's not a werewolf. Though I don't have anything against werewolves (in fact, Lupin is one of my favorite characters) I'm happy that Teddy won't have to worry about hurting the people hwo are close to him the way his dad did.
