Default The Scaly Flaky Baby

I kind of thought the baby represented the part of of Voldemort's soul that was stuck in/on Harry. Voldemort must have killed it in his attempt to kill Harry. But why a baby and why was its skin peeling off?

It sounds like a replica of the thing in GoF, before Peter dropped it in the cauldron.

Good reasoning. I still wonder if the shard of Voldemort's soul in Harry was being personified as the baby there.

I think the baby was like Voldemort's soul...undeveloped and tortured. I mean, you can't expect his soul to look great after being split up seven times.

I agree, I felt that the baby was the bit of soul left by V in Harry - if it had been anything else, DD would have shown concern for it.

It's not that Dumbledore was unconcerned. He just said that it was beyond help.

I'm back to my original impression -- that it was Voldemort's last shard. He and Harry were both knocked out for a minute, and I think that both were in that limbo place -- a kind of near-death, out-of-body experience.
Harry, with his soul intact and as pure as the driven snow, was able to form the place as he liked and was able to have a conversation with Dumbledore. Voldemort's soul was so damaged and evil that it could do nothing but whimper.

Good question for JK to answer then - and... wasn't Harry's scar gone during this limbo place? Why would this be?

I think Harry's scar was gone because he wanted to see himself that way. If not, maybe it was a symbolic way of telling us that the horcrux in Harry was gone.

That sounds likely.

But in real life, Harry never loses the scar. So was the scar linked with the horcrux or not?
