I would probably not find any epilogue adequate, but I was less than thrilled with this one. Seemed too tacked on. But again I think it would be impossible to write a completely satisfying end.

i found the epilogue to be a bit too perfect too...of course it was obvious that harry and ginny would end up together, as well as ron and hermione...but still...to name his kid "albus severus potter"...? it was a bit much in my mind...

No, I didn't like it.
I have two theories.

Theory #1: (the more likely)
JKR wrote a rough draft of the ending years ago.
Through the other six books, her style and plot devices grew up and became more sophistocated.
In the end, she felt obligated to tie it all in with the original plan, which remained a little weak.

Theory #2: (the charitable one / benefit of the doubt / hope against hope)
She has intended all along to write an eighth book, but she wants us to believe for now that the seventh book is the end.

That wasn't and epilogue. It was just another chapter of the book..only 19 years later. An epilogue is more descriptive..gives details to the outcome of the major characters. A lot of things missing in that.

Lot to strap on a poor little boy isn't it. I wondered why they couldn't spread that out over both the boys.
