If saddest is judged by how much I sobbed it would be Dobby's death. But I agree that there were many many very touching points. In some ways I think that Snape's situation - unrequited love for Lily and being blamed for D.'s death is the most pathetic. Poor thing he doesn't really have any friends left at the end.

There was many sad moments for me: When I first thought that Hagrid died in the beginning. When they said that Mad-Eye was killed. He seemed liked an indestructible person. When Hermoine explained how she protected her parents. When her and Harry left the spot from where Ron left them and they reappeared at another spot and she dropped Harry hand and started to cry on a boulder. When Harry was crying about Dobby. I started to cry. When Fred died. I cried again. When I reread the book again all of Fred's line I was sad. When Harry realized the Remus and Tonks was also died. I was said because they had just started their family and that mad me sad. Snape memories were especially sad because of a love lost. Just writing about all of it again brings tears to my eyes.

The saddest moment for me was when I realized why Snape asked Harry to look at him before dying. He saw Lily in Harry's eyes, that was the only part of Harry that resembled his mother. He wasn't asking Harry to look at him; he wanted to look into her eyes one last time before he passed. He was in love with her till the moment he died.

the other sad thing was that teddy would be an orphan. i was dissapointed harry didn't bring him up - because he was exactly like harry. both his parents died fighting against voldemort - lupin had even said he died trying to make this world a better place for his son. very sad |

For me,Harry burrying Dobby was the saddest part of book 7. But, out of the whole series, the saddest part was at the and of book 5 when Harry was talking to Luna about Sirius' death. I cried like a baby. I too think that people's reactions to a death are more moving than the death itself.
