It's almost as if no matter how many loose ends she had tied up, we would still want more....

Yes, these guys have been a part of our lives for years and now they have ended. Of course we want more!

I still don't think it was the best work that could be done. I'd mentioned the Bartimaeous (sp?) Trilogy in some thread and that it was bittersweet when it was over -- but the writing was good in all three books. I don't remember a part when I thought "why am I reading this? why is this in here? man this is dragging." like I did in this book.

It seemed like they rambled around in the tent for so long - that part was flat for me. The rest, mostly enchanted.

Yeah the tent thing -- I'm still wondering why an editor didn't catch that. It's almost like it was so secret that not enough people read it in the editing stages to catch that. mmmmm

Please don't misunderstand, I enjoyed the book very much. I know that I would like to thing there is more to tell. Obviously, it is up to her....my feeling is that many of us can see other avenues to explore both before and after the current series, that's all.

the tent thing was important. Harry had to grow, mature--search for many of the answers within himself. That should have really been obvious when he could not retrieve the sword. It had to be brought up by Ron who then destroyed the horcrux. Harry was not thinking clearly--good grief, as up and down as Ron and Hermione's relationship was, they needed a good fight! lol So it wasn't just for Harry that time was needed. Ron needed to grow up as well. Hermione? What would either of them have done without her?

Oh I agree they needed the experience, I just think she could have given them the experience in fewer pages. She didn't seem to have that problem with other scenes.

Is there no edit feature here?

What I mean ( and I think I've said it other places) I would NOT have done away with it -- It drug on way too long IMHO.

Exactly. Some of the tent stuff was definately needed but how many different ways can you say they were bored, frustrated and confused. It wasted space in my opinion.

And it's not that she did a bad job on the story. Most of it I liked. But the tent scenes, I found boring. The ending I thought was a bit complicated and to be honest far-fetched and the epilogue I thought was (sorry) a disgrace. I didn't want her writing about his whole life, but I was under the impression she was gonna tell us about all the characters we love. Not just a few.
