the thing is, she had the oppurtunity to make it longer, because it was no where near as big as the 5th or 6th.
I suppose her argument would be that because of the lack of protection from voldemort and death eaters, harry and the others had to act quickly with everything they did. But if she had not killed everyone they needed to speak to.. like Bathilda Bagshot, they could have had a whole explanation from the real woman. But in the end i think the way harry discovered the pieces of the puzzle was sufficient. im mad she rushed the final chapter - 19 years later. the potential for information was endless

Exactly. The book was on the whole quite decent and parts of it I loved, but it could have been much more detailed. When I saw how short it was, I was like no way - she can't finish the story that quickly. And I don't think she did. All the pages she had put into the trio sitting in a tent getting bored (which was, in my opinion, pointless and boring as h**l), she could have put into the epilogue and explained more about all the characters we have grown to love, who were just dismissed (Molly, Arthur, George, Bill, Charlie, Luna etc......)

I tried to get a discussion going on a teacher board I moderate (it didn't go very far) about that draggy part at the beginning where they were moving around in the tent. ARGH! what a waste of paper. I even told my husband at some point that if it didn't get better I was going to be really disappointed.

It did, thank goodness, but . . .

ohhhh i know!

i would never have thought id actually find myself sitting there - on the day of the release, reading, and then suddenly, sitting back and realising NOTHING was happening haha. the tent business was boring, and when ron left for a while, because they didnt speak to each other! why bother explaining the silence.

I am sitting here actually relieved that I'm not alone in my resentment at JKR. How long have we been waiting for this book. I sat all of Saturday aside! My husband knew I'd be worthless -- my friends knew not to call --

I can't believe no one on the publishing end said, this part is rubbish, rewrite it, or you've got to give the reader more -- they are expecting more. I feel to a certain extent like a patsy. They knew we'd buy anything because we've been waiting for so long. They've had all this time to make it the absolute best book of all time. They had the funds to hire the absolute best editors, publishers, assistants, and yet what we got was not the absolute best book.

This is exactly what I think. After six amazing books, I was expecting something more than what loadsa people had already guessed. To be honest (and I don't mean to be so harsh) I had read better theories than what actually happened.

Ok every one don't you think you are being a little harsh here. How long did you expect her to make the book? She wasn't going to detail their entire lives you know. I for one was wildly satisfied with the book. I thought that it was really well written and covered all the pertinent facts. What more did you want her to say?

I didn't expect to be twiddling my thumbs in a tent/forest for ages. I expected it to be as content full/rich as the others.

Precisly. I was like, I cannot believe I waited years/went out at midnight just to sit in a loada random forests for months. Granted, it did get much better.

Shauna E- I might be being a bit harsh but I was soooo disappointed. I was reading all these hot theories since I finished HBP and then I read DH and was like, is that it??? All these promises that EVERYTHIN will be revealed and I don't think we were given that much info at all really. And what happened to Molly, Arthur, Bill, Charlie, Percy, George, Luna, Dean etc etc etc......
