Tears in my eyes just thinking about Dobby now. And cheers for Kreacher who redeemed himself.

Wormtail - who got what was coming to him, guilt forced him to do what was right, and it helped save harry!

Bathilda Bagshot - who did what she could to remain loyal to dumbeldore, and died at the hands of voldemort

Ted Tonks - Who was forced away from his wife and pregnant daughter because he was muggle born.. and who had risked his life and his family's safety in order to keep harry safe

plus all the usual favourites from previous books - the most devastating death being dumbeldore's, and ofcourse sirius.

The mention of Colins death made me lose it. I had images of 'hobbits' dying in a big tolkien war going through my head actually at the mention of poor little Colin.

Ok, I'm gonna get a reputation on this site from now on, but please someone agree with me.
In DH I just didn't feel the deaths like I had before. When Cedric died, I was like, no no no - he ain't done nuffin. And when Sirius died, I refused point blank to believe it until HBP came out. And when Dumbledore died, I sobbed and sobbed as much as Hagrid.
But this time round, I was like oh right ok. Don't misunderstand. I LOVE Dobby and Lupin and Fred but I thought their deaths were made to seem a bit insignificant (not so much Dobby). They were rushed and before we could start to accept it, it was like wooooo, Voldemort's dead, Harry's married and we're all happily ever after.
It was like deaths are expected, so just deal with it and be grateful it's not Hagrid or the trio.
Don't hate me!!!!

i agree.
lupin had an important role since his arrival in the series. he was a powerful figure, the last remaining connection to james' close friends, and a trusted member of the order. he was one of the 4 who appeared to harry from the resurrection stone before he faced voldemort, which confirmed his importance in harry's life.

i dont' believe his death did him justice. to be explained as a corpse lying next to fred and tonks. in a row of dead bodies. it was way too harsh.
it should have been at least a battle which he had come close to winning, i woul dhave loved a duel between him an greyback! or even that he died for tonks, because he had never actually shown his love for her, which was disappointing because i found him such a caring, loving person.

dobby was definitely given an appropriate death, dramatic - heroic and completely dobby.

mad - eye's was sad too, but i found him such a prominent character, with someone so smart and skillful around, the order was a little safer, but when he was killed it was kind of a weakening of their power

and i think fred's was alright aswell, i mean he had just made up with percy and they were fighting side by side...

Well, perhaps their deaths felt rushed because that's how deaths are in war. Your best friend dies when you are fighting on the battlefield and you have to go on fighting and let them lie there . . .

I do understand that it was a war and that is how things are but I still felt like it was not considered to be that important.
What amm about Lupin is true. His death didn't do him justice. Sirius death was a major turning point for Harry, Wormtail was murdered in a very dramatic way by the hand LV gave him, James' death is discussed in detail more than once. And yet the Marauder who showed often the most love and compassion from what we can see, was just dumped on floor without us even seein him die as a hero, savin Tonks or defeating numerous DE's. It wasn't fair and I expected more of J.K.
Fred's death was, for me, slightly better but we never got to see how George dealt with it. Even a small section in the epilogue would have helped.
True Dobby's death was much better and fitting for him.
I just felt cheated out of characters that I had really loved.

I agree completely with the book. My mind was in freefall, I thought it was totally impossible, I must have read it wrong when Fred died.
Colin and Hedwig's deaths shocked me so much, I had to put the book down when I read the words.

To the members of the original Order of the Phoenix, who fought and gave their lives so the wizarding world could have 10 years peace.

To Frank and Alice Longbottom, who lost something possibly even more precious than life, sanity.
