When you finish the book you see that he had the best reason in the world to kill Dumbledore, he had promised AD that he would--giving AD the choice of WHEN and HOW he wanted to die rather than suffering from the curse. I felt badly for Snape. He got a bad deal all around. AHacker

I think Dumbledore was exercising 'euthanasia' in a way, and in doing so, trying to save Draco as well.

Could be about saving Draco -- He wants so badly to be bad and he just doesn't have it in him.

BUT since Dumbledore knows he's going to die, Snape killing him will further the plan -- strengthen his position with Voldemort. I sure believed it.
