Concerning "The Bribe," I think I've found it.
During Mary Cattermole's trial, Harry saw the locket on the toad.
Page 261: "...the locket she had taken as a bribe from a petty criminal.."
It's lame, but I guess I'm satisfied that this is the answer.

Where exactly did Snape get his information? I mean, I would assume that he got it from Dumbledore's portrait, but how would the portrait know about it? Especially something like the real date of Harry's departure. If Dumbledore had been visiting other portraits of his, he would only know the false date, right? Lupin being an informant for Snape fits.

I'm not following.
I was talking about the paragraph of information from Lupin that proved his identy.
