What is Ravenclaw?
We know that Ravenclaw is one of the four houes of Hogwarts where the intelligent students are placed. It has also produced excellent wizards and witches. The Hogwarts students don't look down on Ravenclaw like they do Hufflepuff. But, how do we know this?
Well, we know that it is one of the four house and that it has produced outstanding witches and wizards, because McGonagall tells us that is the first book. (Page 114, American Hardback)
"'The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has it's own noble history and each has produced outstanding whitches are wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points.'"
According to the Sorting Hat in first Harry Potter book (page 118, American Hardback) Ravenclaw is the house of the intelligent.
"Or yet in old wise Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;"
We also know that Ravenclaw isn't looked down upon, because Hermion tells us that:
"I've been asking around, and I hope I'm in Gryffindor, it sounds by far the best; I hear Dumbledore himself was in it, but I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad..." |
