I think it will be at the Potters house, or what about Diagon Alley.
I can picture Harry and Voldemort completely ruining the shop. And I can just see them running round the bookshelves in Flourish and Blotts and Harry leading Voldemort into Weasleys Wizard where the twins set a trap for Voldemort.
[/b]
I love the thought of Fred and George trapping Voldy! *sigh* They are so great. . .

OK. So there HAS to be a show-down between Voldy and our Harry.
Where!?
-Diagon Alley as a site would be very dramatic but seems a bit 'High Noon/Western/shoot-em-up' to me.
-The Ministry of Magic as a site would be fantastic justice because of all the nasty stuff they've done to our Harry but is too political, public and too impersonal for what is a very personal struggle: Voldy V's Harry. Also, MoM has been used as a 'final scene' scene before.
-The Gaunt's shack and Riddle's mansion only have significance for Voldy so it's hard to see why we would be taken back there again.
-Godric's Hollow is a good option as the 'curtain call' scene because the idea of Harry drawing Voldy's blood on the grave of his father is a bit of sweet revenge for the way Voldy got Harry's blood in book 4 and may explain that mysterious 'glint of triumph' of Dumbledore at Voldy having Harry's blood [see other threads on this topic]. However, I think Harry is too good a character to have nasty old revenge as his central theme (if so, the Dursley's would be long dead).
- Hoggers has great significance for both. It is the only home either has ever known and is now vulnerable because Dumby is gone. Just as in the case of the death of the Alpha Male in a troop of apes, the territory is fair game, now V and H have to fight for it..... Hmmm Too primordial for my taste
- Privet Drive as the stage for the final scene might work because it brings the story full circle, back to where it began. It also justifies the Dursley's existence (something they haven't been able to do on their own) and leaves the opening for the 'Petunia Connection' to be unveiled [see other threads]. Additionally, if the final stand-off between Voldy and Harry was at the Dursley's, it would be the ultimate show of Harry's moral fibre and heroism:That he will protect anyone against Voldy, EVEN the Dursley's ... Very "Harry"!!*sigh*

So what do you think??

Where will the last stand be??
Between whom??
Should it be Harry standing alone against Voldy?
Should it be the Order and Harry against Voldy and the Death Eaters??
Should it be the magical community standing up against the bully and being brave enough to say his name to his face??!?
Should it be the world of magical and non-magicals uniting against the yucky, dark side?

I think that it would be in the potter house.

Because Harry seeks revenge on Voldy.

All of the above. I think the most important will be the Department of Mysteries and the Chamber of Secrets. But it could also include the Riddle House, Godric's Hollow, Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Gaunt house, Dursley / Privet Drive, Hogsmeade, London, Ministry office, Black house, and yes, possibly even Antarctica -- remember, almost everybody can apperate now, so it can be anywhere and everywhere. The one thing I don't think it will include is non-magicals.

Then again, what about the Dursley's house...why would Jo have introduced us to the Dursleys in all their wonderful heniousness just to leave them with no role to play in the end?? [/b]
I think they could sell-out Harry to Voldemort, especially if he threatens Dudley.

I can see that, too. They regret their cowardly act and Harry has pity...

What about the 'Dumbledore and Petunia had correspondences before night Harry was left on the door step'?? What's THAT about??? (I got that tid bit from an interview on MuggleNet- might have misread it. I'll go and check) [/b]
Did you ever find that? I got the impression that it was just the letter he left with baby Harry.

How could JKR do all that?

(See FanFiction, Shacklebolt thread, #17. Continued from "Bob" and the accidental horcurx.)

Ok, let's say Harry is smart enough and/or lucky enough to collect the other five horcruxes first. We have the diary, ring, locket, mystery and cup. So far, Voldemort doesn't have a clue.

Meanwhile, Voldemort has been wanting to visit his Chamber for about 40 years. He left something down there -- a special weapon or some prescious artifact, and he wants it real bad, but he can't trust anyone to get it for him.

Then dawns the big day. Figure that at least a quarter of the book will be devoted exclusively to this one day.

Finally, somehow, Voldemort realizes that one of his horcruxes is missing, flies into a rage, and the roller coaster starts here. Believing himself invincible, Voldemort tries to sneak past the enchantments and into the Chamber of Secrets (where there's a will, there's a way) for his special weapon. Harry finds him. The battle rages across the country, to anywhere and everywhere. The twists and turns make Tolkien's final battle scene look like something out of a Dick & Jane book. We flip from one location to the next. Everybody and his grandmother is in on the act, somewhere, with maybe four seperate battles going on at once. Nigini gets it somewhere along the line. (Maybe Snape kills her and destroys the horcurx, finally revealing his true alliance.) Sub-plot conclusions explode at the reader like a machine gun so that you can't catch your breath between one and the next. They come faster and faster, like a fireworks finale and then, silence.

Harry and Voldemort are alone in the Department of Mysteries. No Death Eaters, no Order of the Phoenix. Harry taunts, calling him "Tommy," and counts off on his fingers: "We found a really nice ring in your grandfather's house! And that pretty cup -- I used it today at breakfast for my pumpkin juice..." Only now does Voldemort realize that his horcruxes are all gone. One last exchange of curses leaves Voldemort severely injured and wandless.

Enter the pity theme (remember Merope's story and Harry's reaction).
Harry hesitates, and that compassionate hesitation creates some magic that makes Voldemort even weaker.
Voldemort is injured, terrified, and begs for his life, using language similar to what he used when he wanted Harry to beg.
Harry can't do it.
But Bob is still there to quietly finish the job. [/b]
