Yeah, I think he's working as a double agent, which may lead some to believe that he's playing the Order wrong, but I don't think so. I posted my reasons earlier.

When Snape is around and Harry is in danger, Snape will protect him. Remember when Draco conjured up a snake during the duel? Snape attempted to get rid of it before Gilderoy Lockhart stepped in and blew the snake into the air. Then when Lupin turned into a Werewolf, Snape stepped in front of the students to protect them. Remember the scene from movie 1 when Snape didn't trust Querle and he had him pinned up against the wall, telling him to decide where his loyalties lie. The only reason Harry saw that was because he was underneath his invisibility cloak. It was a look into the real Snape. Dumbledore trusts him for a reason.

Yes, but Snape only protected the kiddies in the movie. He was out cold in the book. I think.

Uhhh, I think you may be right. That theory just got blown out of the water.

Okay. Snape's anger with Harry's father will be his undoing and will endanger both Harry and the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore trusts Snape but no one can trust Snape's anger. It is a weakness.

I think snape should be trusted true he dislikes Harry, let me ask if you dont like a person for whatever reason it will make you a bad person? I think the main reason he treats Harry in that way is because he reminds him too much of James, and he was a good person but did not treat Snape nice when he was young.

Yes but Snape has to see that Harry Potter is NOT James Potter. No matter how hard Snape tries, he will get no satisfaction from punishing Harry because Harry isn't the one who hurt him.

Moreover, once Snapes enemies find out what a sucker he is for punishing Harry, they will set him up. Snapes attitude is dangerous to himself as well as other members of the Order who depend upon him. It could be Snapes fatal flaw.

I would trust Snape unless he is face to face with Harry. In the past, he has acted to protect Harry. And as long as he is not in direct contact with him, Snape does seem to be capable of objective thinking. Even Dumbledore admitted that had misjudged Snape in Book 5; page 533:

"I trust Severus Snape," said Dumbledore simply. "But I forgot--another old man's mistake--that some wounds run too deep for the healing. I thought Professor Snape would overcome his feelings about your father--I was wrong."

So even Dumbledore has learned that Snape is flawed. This has got to be a worry because Snape is still acting as a double agent. Why can't Dumbledore perform a memory charm on Snape to erase all memory of James Potter? I would think that Snape, too, would want to wipe all memory of James from his mind.

I think that Snape will over come his hatred of Harry. Snape hates Sirius, yet in book 5, he went to see if Sirius was in need of aid - listening to Harry's plea.

Actually, I do hope that Snape has an awakening because I think it would make an interesting twist in the plot. Are you reading this JKR?
