monje - I couldn't agree with you more...
I adore Alan Rickman... I think he is the perfect Snape.
The delivery of every frustrated utterance at Harry and the students - is awesome. It would have been a dream role to play. To keep all the internal knowledge within (that he is one of the good guys).
There are no cheesy Lockhart grins or inane moments.
Simply superb acting really.

I also adore Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Die Hard.
He will also be starring in Sweeney Todd alongside Johnny Depp...

I have much respect for the way snape played out everything. I dont see a thing wrong with anything he did. And if i did i would hate dumbledore because snape only acted on his orders.
*But my favorites are ginny and neville and LUNA!!!

We are judging Snape through Griffindor eyes.
Snape was a Slytherin - during his own student Hogwarts years and also as a teacher.

Find me a slytherin who would have acted differently as a teacher and I'll give you a monkey for New Years.

Find me a slytherin who would have acted better - as in - done more to help Harry fight Voldemort and I'll eat my hat.

a lot of what is creepy about Snape, is his Slytherin-ness. I find it wonderful that DESPITE being in Slytherin - he still did the good things to help Harry and to follow Dumbledore's orders even after Dumbledore died.
