I think they are a great idea. Umbridge barely teaches them anything, except for reading the book. She is a Ministry Spy obviously. She has a lot of room for improvement, starting with a beauty treatment and a spell to make people nice and not make them write lines with a pen that inscripts the words into the students hands.

Holding secret classes was an excellent idea given the state of things at Hogwarts. There was every reason to believe that Umbridge's intentions were to control both the students and the teaching staff at Hogwarts. The students figured that if they wanted protection, they would have to provide it themselves because the teachers were dropping like flies thanks to Umbridge and the Ministry of Magic.

Psh. Yeah! I mean, where else were they going to learn defensive magic.
I just had a thought though, don't you think they should've learn more offensive magic then they do? I think so. What if they happen across the path of Voldemort. I think I'd want to know more magic than simply disarming him. *rolls eyes*

Offensive magic is also known as the dark arts. We would just have to spend more time in the Restricted Section of the Library. But first we have to find a good spell to put on Filtch. Any suggestions?

Oh yeah...well, I still think they should learn some offensive, if only a little.

Filtch. I dunno. Maybe we can do that Waddiwasit thing Lupin did to Peeves? You'd have to be pretty darn brave though. :)

Put a spell on him! Yeah, but only the Summoning Speel, so when he gets to close to finding out something, someone can just summon him wherever they want him to go. If that is even possible though.

I think a good spell to put on Filtch would be a Sticking Spell. Every time he tries to go after a student, he gets stuck to the floor until the student can make his escape.
