i def. agree with you there are so many other things that people that dont read the books miss and dont understand...if they could make the titantic into a 2 part movie they couldhave done the same with harry potter esp. with the large following that this series has had in both book and movie form and also i believe that they should have continuosly filmed as much as possible i know that the actors and actresses need a break but give them there break and get back to it there is too much time in between movies and the actors are growing up too quickly

the books are always better. because you have access to the characters thoughts.... it must be hard to act out a 'thought process' without some kind of narrative being heard in the background. to me - that's the big difference between the Harry books and the movies. I love the 'thoughts' the 'frustration' the 'angst'... in the books they are communicated so well.

My son pretty much hated reading too--until he picked up the first Harry Potter novel! Now he reads a great deal more and has expanded his reading list to other author's as well. Now we discuss them together, and see the movies together so we can compare notes. We don't hate the movies, but we don't love them either. I can imagine how long the movies would have to be to include the wealth of informaton that Ms. Rowling includes in her writing. Here in the UK (I am not sure all in this forum are in the UK) we get intermissions during long movies. In the US this didn't happen (haven't been to a movies in the US in a long time), at least not when I went.

The faces chosen for the characters (actors' faces) have added to the visualization I do when I read the novel. Nothing can replace the movie camera in my head though...I have always loved to escape into the world's created between the covers of a book. I wish I could help more understand / do the same thing....

Agreed! Now if they'd start with the first one and make a mini series a year . . .

The movies are a far cry from what you can find out in the books. The movies gaven't even got the basic plot right since The Chamber of Secrets
Read the books! Trust me! You will never ever regret it!

The movies cut out too much from the books. I also like the books because you can imagine what they look like in your mind.

definitely the books. the movies are good and i enjoy them, but there is now way they can completely portary all the little nuances that are so necessary to know so that everything can come together.... if you only watched the movies (like my dh) you miss SOOOOO MUCH!
