Mass Emails

We sent out an email a few hours ago to let people know the statistics of the site. These were sent to all members who registered.

What do you think about this type of email? Is it just spam and we should never do this again? Do you think the email was interesting or do you have a different opinion?

I think that it is Ok to do that.
I mean, it isn't really spam if you are a member of the chat, is it?


I think that it is always interesting to know more about this place. Especially since I am a member of the chat and it's future conserns us all, really.

To be completely honest, I didn't find the content of them email all that interesting or helpful, but I didn't mind getting it, and I don't consider it spam.

Besides the Top 10 forums and site statistics, what else would you like in the email? Do you think we could do a list of new members and link to their introductions?

I think it's a good idea, regardless of the content.

Stuff gets lost over time.
You change computers or someone messes with your favorites...
I've lost bookmarks and addresses.

Getting an occasional little "hello" could be a good thing, and I doubt anyone would mind.
If it's every other day, someone might think it's spam, but once a month or less should be alright.

I'll have to think about it, but that seems like a good idea too. The new members profiles I mean.

I completly agree with Psyduck. I wouldn't mind getting these emails cause i know i will never loose the site again. (i've done that before, took me forever to figure out how to get back) But like abs said, i dont find the information all that helpful, but the new member links would be cool.

Maybe, for the opening line, you could very briefy mention some news.
Something like:
"The release of Harry Potter and the Whatever is Next is on schedule for July seventh!"
Not that anyone would need the update, but it's a reason to think about coming back to the club.

Yeah, it does seem like a good idea to do stuff like this as long as it's not all of the time, ya kno.

Maybe you could include links to new or hot topics! Of couse the e-mail will be mostly all links! lol!

I don't mind recieving emails. I quite like them actually. As for the new members one I'm not sure. I wouldn't like to recieve an email for every new member who comes on here. I prefer to check them out myself if i have the time.
