We have been searching the controls, and decided that from now on we're going to require an email validation when registering. Don't worry if you're already registered, nothing is going to happen to you.

We just thought that it would help keep the spamming at a lower rate.

How would you do an email validation requirement? How does it work?

That is a very good idea and would make posting a lot easier when there isn't all of that spam.

Ban? Nope. We just delete their accounts. But now that you mention it, it might be a better idea to ban them so they can't just create the same account again.

The email validation is bascially that once you sign up, and email gets sent to the email address you signed up with, and asks you to follow some really easy instructions (I believe its just clicking on a link) before you can do anything on this site.

That way, bots can't do the spamming - it has to be a real person.

Of course robots can, Hm...technically if you think about it, the computer itself is a robot

There is another type of spam that is plaguing these boards...

[And please, everyone, keep in mind that I'm not trying to offend anyone here, I'm just a tad irritated..]

There are other boards and forums that require posts to be on-topic and at least 10 words long or otherwise it is considered spam.
This is obviously to keep people from posting nonsense and "spamming up the place..."
Maybe we should adopt that rule here, because I see an awful lot of this type of spam here, and maybe I'm just being petty, and maybe it shouldn't even matter to me, but I'm annoyed. . .and I know I'm not the only one.
It's my opinion that if you don't have anything informative, helpful, inquisitive...anything real to say about a topic, maybe you shouldn't post on that topic at all...instead of posting BS on every single topic just to get the last word and hike up your post numbers...

I'm really sorry if anyone takes offense to this, but please try not to and just think about what I'm trying to say.

Thanks for reading...and please no hate mail/replies! :P

I understand that but sonmetimes there isn't a 10 or more word reply to a topic and in some places like the bored room you don't have to post alot just go there when you are bored.

Do you understand what I mean.

Becasue I do a lot of that short postage spam stuff I guess. :P
