| Ok, so the Principal is up for review again, and this year it’s about tenure. If we don’t fire him now, we’re stuck. Well, not really. That’s a fairytale. You CAN fire someone with tenure. It just takes a little extra work, and in schools where no one gives a crap, that’s a problem. Not around here. But the fairytale lives on. So anyway, person “A” wants pigs to fly, and believes that the Principal has promised to make it happen. (Not likely. I have my own brilliant ideas, and suggest them all the time. He says, “That’s interesting,” or “That’s a good idea.” I don’t remember hearing a promise.) Meanwhile, person “B” believes that we already have plenty of flying pigs, is highly offended by them, and believes that the Principal has promised to make them go away. (Clue, just in case you weren’t sure: pigs can not fly.) These two geniuses find each other in the parking lot and discover that they have something in common: the Principal has not fulfilled either of their promises. They are outraged and, arm-in-arm, demand immediate action. If the Principal doesn’t fulfill both of their promises, they are both going to pull their kids out of the school. Maybe that’s the answer. A thinly disguised fairytale. In the school newsletter. “Once upon a time there was a king who possessed no magical powers…” |
