hmmm, i'd have to say the time when i was riding my dad's horse, it was a couple days after he'd died and my head was so full of so many thoughts, i went outside, didn't even bother saddling her up and i just road out into the meadow at full gallop and just forgot, it was the happiest thing i can remember.

A Slide show of it all ???? Hmmm maybe that wouldn't work ....The dementors would get you at the first unhappy thing ........It's hard to find a 'happiest ' memory I think ... because there are so many ... ( I hope for others too)

In Movie 5 ~ OotP ~ at the very end, when Harry is fighting Voldermort ... he looks up and see's the DA right then Harry has a slideshow of memories experience. This reminds him that he is loved and gives him the power to cast Vodermort out of his body.

Voldermort was behaving like a dementor then ... not by sucking out Harrys soul but by attempting to rule over it. Uggghhhhh !

The concept of the 'dementor' I assume comes from the word demented ...meaning mad. Being driven mad , by ugly recurring thoughts that suck the happiness out of your soul.

I think JK did an amazing thing here when creating the dementors ,because now that I think about it the character dementor, represents very well the meaning of the word demented.
I mean ...they look like ...what they are.

Also to have the dementors as prison gaurds is also a clever concept and play on words since in maddness you are imprisoned within you own mind and nightmare.

Just a lucid thought.

that's a wonderful thought. great thinking Shirl - I like it.

my happiest memory is back in 2001 - it was the Centenary of Australian Federation and I was singing (with many other people) Mahler's Symphony of 1000. There was a massive orchestra, choirs from around the country, Adults choirs and kids choirs... We had about 850 people on stage at the Royal Exhibition Buildings in Melbourne.

The piece itself is simply incredible. Very powerful. The ABC broadcast the performances live on national radio. My dad was at home with cancer. It was the first and last classical concert of mine he was able to listen to because he was so sick. I was over the moon that I was able to share it with him.
