Re: Languages russian: Zdra-stvu-eetee, Kak pazhivayete (formal)
russian: priyet, kak dela (informal)
Russian vowels are 'dark' in sound, rather than 'bright' as they are in italian.
when written with 'english' letters - it is safe to treat the vowels as you would italian vowels except with a plum in your mouth. Think - the queens english (darker rounder sounds) as compared to regular english.
When you have a million consonants in a row... how do we say them?
each in turn really.
Handy hints - zh = 'sh' but with more 'buzzing' from the zzzz sound. Also, there is a lot of 'y' in russian which normally follows a consonant and is pronounced before the main vowel. so often a 'y' before a 'i' sound will be 'yi'
'zzzz-drast-vuiii-tyiii' 'kak' 'pa-zhi-va-ye-tyi'
I'm learning a little bit of russian - I have to sing in that language on occasion. Dark vowels, lots of 'y', and get those consonants out quickly.' |
