new family member!

elmoro was referring to my other pets. (I adore animals)
I have two dogs - George & Winston - and two cats - Miss Kitty & Figaro and now two birds - Rikki and Lil Gimpi.

we used to have a lot of rabbits:
knoppie, flappie, vlekkie, dikkie, ,...ie, ...ie, ...ie and ...ie
and a turtle we found in a forest in i think it was albania or bulgaria:

and lots of fishes:
i remember these two..yeza n shabush

What is Rikki?
It's good for social creatures to have a friend.

Rikki is a lutino (yellow) cockatiel. Lil Gimpi has a crush on her already.
SHE is also (I think) trying to flirt with him.

It's very cute.

ooooh - lil gimpi update...

tonight for the first time - he is standing on the perch with one leg. he has tucked the other leg up into his feathers somewhere...

that is a sign of a contented bird. oh that's fantastic.

Another good sign (which i haven't seen yet) is when they sleep with their head turned around facing behind them. I'll keep you posted.

lil gimpi is settling in to his home quite well.

We have discovered he is a wonderful singer... he likes to sing when I sing. it's so beautiful.

he still can't fly - but he doesn't realise this, so, when he is outside of the cage you have to watch him carefully and be ready to catch, because he WILL launch himself as if to fly, and crash land on the ground (beak first) if you can't catch him.

He is wonderful and fits into the family quite well.

oh - and the dutchies sent me a bride for lil gimpi - I'll take a picture & post that in the next day or two... Many thanks to PoA (whose Christmas tree donated the bride) and Mr & Miss Elmoro!
