A twist of fate, i'm guessing!

Why is it that when you transport something by car, it's called ship-ment but when you transport something by ship it's called cargo?

Because people like to confuse others with words...

Why is it that in swimming when you descend you get faster, and when you ascend you get slower?

And testostrone. Hormones in general, really. With odd synapse interactions on the side.

Water has a really high specific heat, so it experiences heat transfer at a much slower rate. Thus, water temperature (most noticeable if you've ever visited an Altantic Coast beach) is generally noticeably lower than atmospheric temperatures.

Why is it that, if cheese is a dairy product, it has little or no calcium?

Hon, I'm from Wisconsin, I can explain your question.

Actually, you're wrong. Cheese has TONS of calcium! A 1.1 oz serving of cheddar contains about 200 milligrams of calcium. Cheese is essentially concentrated milk: it takes about 5.3 oz of milk to equal the calcium.

Hmm... I guess it's just when I go to buy cream cheese or such there never seems to be any calcium...*shrugs*

Why do Americans love movies like "The Dark Knight" (which was to die for. Perhaps literally, if you ask The Joker.) but then either completely reject or deny it's darker, more philosophical aspects?
