It doesn't change the fact that he is dead and has no death scene, or funeral scene, or anything. Even his line when Harry meets him isn't comforting at all, I thought it would have been done better. Just didn't feel... right, somehow.

(And it's the people Harry's calling back, so it wouldn't really include Tonks. Now the weird part is that even though most people had wanted or expected to see some kind of Remus/Harry bonding in HBP, there really was none, and Harry wasn't made out to be that close to Remus at all, except maybe it was implied in DH, but it was never developed in the other books. o_0 I actually think it probably should have been his parents, Sirius, and Dumbledore, as far as people closest to him.)

What really got me was the fact that J.K said she loved that part and she cried after writin it. Sorry but I didn't think it was even remotely sad. Didn't even shed one tear (and this is comin from the girl who refused to believe that Sirius was dead for YEARS because it was tooooooo sad! And couldn't see for days after reading HBP because I cried too much over my beloved DD). I loved Lupin nearly as much as Sirius. I shoulda been ballin. Why wasn't I? Sorry but I blame the writin.

Possibly JK thought that the average reader would be so glad that Harry didn't die, that she felt that she didn't need to dwell or give details regarding the later deaths.

Which was ridiculous, because she should have known WE would have known that she could never, in the end, kill off her beloved Harry. (Though, surely, nonetheless, in some pessimistic corner of our minds and hearts, we were steeling ourselves for it.)

Harry's walk to death had the potential to be completely heartwrenching, and it ended up being "What chapter is JKR talking about, crying while she was writing it? It wasn't the Prince's Tale, so which one?".

I could still believably deny Sirius' death, even after all this time- but Remus' just makes me furious, instead of sorrowful. <_<

Hey, I want to be a ranter.

I'm still miffed that Albus Dumbledore never made a reappearance in living form, especially with Ron's knack for incidental divination. Ron kept bringing up whether or not Dumbledore was alive or not...I can't believe DD didn't outsmart or hide from death like a Peverell. I thought that's where the story was leading, but yet another dissappointment. Certainly DD had delved deeper into magic than anyone could have imagined, just as the Voldy-Harry doubled-over life-soul connection had done.

That's enough for now.

Ok, sign me up for T.I.R.A.D.E.

I meant to do this long ago but...
It's just that every time I try to add a post to this thread,
I want to say "It's not just the ending!"
The whole book stunk.
And it cheapened all the other books.
It ends up being not so classic after all.
Lame, contrived, self-contradictory...
The main plot just made no sense at all.

The last book should be the best. It was tired. I'd like a mulligan.

I really think that they were trying so hard to keep it so bloody secret that they didn't have enough people read it. I really thing that they thought we'd accept anything she wrote.

I still think if they'd just taken a couple of really devoted fans and had them read it, they would have quickly pointed out the flaws and they could have fixed them, but I don't think any one thought about the fans.

This reminds me very much about my situation at work right now. I need a spot to work, so they found me a corner. "A corner?" I asked. "Isn't that all you need? You have a laptop!" It wasn't well thought out. No one asked me what I needed - what I do when no one is looking, no one looked beyond what they see me doing in my current corner. Very short sighted. Same with HP. No one thought we'd be expecting more based on previous books or interviews or expecting better quality based on previous growth from book to book.

Well, I could see how you interpreted the name that way, but I think, actually, when we made it we meant "Ending" in terms of the "ending" to the series, not just the epilogue. It covers DH in general, as a lousy piece of literature.
Sorry, for the confusion, I'm glad you joined now. (The things we do in the name of acronyms! XD)

Anyway, here's a thought I mentioned briefly earlier:
Did anyone else think the Deathly Hallows subplot was really rather useless, especially considering they named the entire book after it?
I didn't see the need of the Cloak being THE Cloak, or the Wand being the ELDER Wand, and the Stone didn't really have any point either.
Technically, the Stone could have been justified if the scene were Harry summoned Lily, James, Sirius, and Remus was done very well, but it wasn't that great. :/

Yeah I agree that the whole book ruined the series. Some parts were really good and I thought, this is it, we're gettin back to usual now, but then I'd read on and be like COME ON! THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN! I just found it really unrealistic and it wasn't like her usual style.
I found it strange because she usually knows what her readers want. It was rushed and sooo incredibly predictable. I've never been so disappointed with HP before. It was soooo blatent what would happen and then even when something unexpected did happen (like Harry not being dead,) I was just like WHAT!!!! Why???? That doesn't make sense! Maybe it's me being stupid but I felt like she boxed herself into corners and then was like, oh no how can I get outta this? Ah ha, the cloak or some polyjuice potion! I know I was all planned but it didn't feel that way to me. And then I read All was well and almost set the book on fire. So sorry for my rant! ;D

And yeah, the Deathly Hallows were a rather large waste of ink, paper and time! The wand story was boring, the cloak story was pointless and the stone story coulda been good but REALLY REALLY wasn't!
