[An extract from Next Generation II - RPG]

Daisy followed Prue into the hall. She listened with excitiment as the other house members began to chant the house war cry;

Huff,Huff,Hufflepuff
Loyal, diligent, smart and tough

We maybe housed beneath the ground
But we are safe and can’t be found

When danger looms, we do not fear
For we are stronger than lions or bears

Hufflepuff House for the just and loyal
Patient and true, unafraid of toil

Goooooo.... Huflepuff

Down to the lower level of Hogwarts the students went. Past the kitchen entrance where the massive still life portrait of "Fruit in a Bowl" stood. Past the gigling pear (which someone tickled on the way by) and onto the next landing and wide corridor. Large torchs were mounted onto the stone walls , each light emitting a warm and welcoming glow. As they turned the last corner Daisy could see a large round structure in the wall looming before them.

"This must be the door to the common room " said Avian .

There was nothing that Daisy liked to do more than search for old treasures and artifacts of interest in her spare time but she had never seen anything as beautiful as the Doorway to Huffle common. The door was 2 meters wide and 4 meters tall. A thick heavy wooden structure with slates of solid caste iron bands across it. Around it's edge was a wide burnished copper boarder in which beautifully embossed and highly polished Badgers chased eachother in and around grassy tussocks and large earthy mounds. The centre piece of the door was a large hourglass inlaid into the centre panel.

"Look closely" said Prue "This is how we enter 'Huffle' common"

With that , Prue reached towards the door. The Playful badgers stopped running, stood up on hind legs and watched her. Daisy could now see that there were a number of round dials, Prue turned one , then another , then another ;

"It's a sequence, that opens the door. You can't just turn any old knob you fancy. The sequence is set for 1 week , change over is every Sunday night after the house meeting ..... andddd... presto" said Prue.

As the last dial was turned all the shutes opened and streams of coloured sand were released. Each stream quickly wove it's way through a convuluted maze eventually pouring into the large hourglass. The glass filled very quickly and as soon as it was full it tipped over. A loud clunk was heard as the heavy latch on the door was released.

"HORRAYYY !!!" shouted the students as the door badgers applauded enthusiastically.

Helga Hufflepuff
Appearance: Hufflepuff has gingery red hair, blue eyes, and a plump figure.
Home: According to the Sorting Hat, Hufflepuff came "from valley broad,"
Skills: According to JKR's website, Hufflepuff was particularly famous for her dexterity at food-related Charms. Many recipes traditionally served at Hogwarts feasts originated with Hufflepuff (JKR). Her Famous Wizard card states that "she brought people from different walks of life together to help build Hogwarts and was loved for her charming ways." Another accomplishment of Hufflepuff's was her concern for the treatment of House-elves in the Wizarding world. She made Hogwarts a refuge for them, and as a result they were treated more kindly there than elsewhere (PC122, PC130).

Artifacts: A small, magical golden cup with two finely wrought handles, engraved with a badger (HBP20, HBP26).

Device: Badger.

Colors: Yellow and black.
