The significance could be that Zacharias might have an inkling of where the cup is. Apart from that I've actually sometimes wondered why he was in Hufflepuff since he's quite spiteful to the Gryffindor team in the first Quidditch match of book 6, yet we've got previous reports of the Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors getting along well (book four, just after the Goblet of Fire announced the four champs we're given a glimpse of how they normally get along, though they weren't getting along so well at that point).

I like the sound of Zacharias being the Hufflepuff heir. I reckon he is. And people have said Hufflepuff might be playing a big part in the next book. Or was it Ravenclaw? Oh well, whatever.

Hopefully it will be both. I mean, I reckon Luna Lovegood from Ravenclaw is well poised to have a good hand in book 7 now. Then I don't think that Ernie MacMillan, Hannah Abbott, Justin Finch-Fletchley and Zachy Smith are in there just as incidentals - I think Rowling's dropping us a few clues. Someone in the Hufflepuff common room overhearing Zachy saying something about his family heritage and then telling Harry. I don't doubt that they would - they're loyal aren't they?
