Yep. I reckon Harry is the Heir of Grffyndor. The 'heir' just means the latest descendant. Therefore. I reckon that if there is an heir to Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, they would be alive now. It's the relationship between Slytherin and Grffindor that was the most volite for the Founders and will play a part again in the next books I think. What do you reckon??? |

| Maybe one of the descendents (and thus heirs) was Hepzibah Smith - she had the cup before Voldy took it and we aren't told how she got it. If Hepzibah is an ancestor of Zacharias Smith then a Hufflepuff heir is at Hogwarts now. |

| Oh no you beat me! The further i scrolled down the page the more i laughed that no one had got it yet. Then on the very last post you point out what i wanted to. It amazes me that no one got it sooner. It just goes to show how obsessed they are with the major themes of the book that they overlook something rather interesting. Hepzibah Smith is a direct decendant of Hufflepuff. It says so in the chapter where she shows the Cup to Tom Riddle. Ever since i found this out i've been wondering about Zacharias Smith. Then again it could just be a coincidence, seeing as Smith is a very common name. But the fact that he's in Hufflepuff makes me think he's related to Hepzibah. |

| I missed the line about Hepzibah actually being a direct descendent of Hufflepuff. I had just thought that it was unlikely that she had bought that from someone... since she doesn't mention purchasing it, so I figured it would be an heirloom. As for Zacharias Smith, I mean he seems somewhat on the arrogant side... if he's descended from Hufflepuff then that could be a reason for it. It might also mean that he might know where the cup is - I know Tom took it from Hepzibah, but what if it somehow got returned to her family after he made a horcrux of it? If that's so, then Harry and Zacharias might have to try to get along. At any rate, the regular mention of Zacharias' in relation to Quidditch and the DA may be a hint of a septology clue. Thoughts anyone? |
