Yeah. I was brought up with an Old English Sheepdog (the black and white, long haired woofers with hair covering their eyes.) As funny as it was to see her run into trees, she needed shaving at summer. Not only is the Oz heat too much for anyone wearing anything more than a bikinni, but she'd actually get fly blown (maggots 'round her bum!!---- ewww!) If we (when I say 'we' I of course mean 'my Mum" - what us mums do!!) didn't shave her she'd not only die of heat stroke but also get eaten alive!!! Funny but, she always did look kinda embarassed after she was shorn.

I have written of werewolves in other countries. A strange thing happens to them when subjected to intense heat. It would be a lot funnier if they were afflicted with fly blown bumms! But unfortunately they just go mad. Maybe that's a future story.
