As Bloodlands said, every single character, to some degree, makes a difference to the story...but there are different levels.
I wouldn't take Dung out because I wouldn't, as far as the plot, alter anyone who has so much as touched a Horcrux. At least until the very end. And as far as Snape/Dumbledore being able to influence the Order even after their absence from it, they need Dung- think the Seven Potters idea- so even if one was to eliminate Dung, there would have to be someone to fill his role. I don't find him very replaceable in that aspect- I can't think of any Order members who walk the line between being trusted and accessible in more, uh, questionable areas.
Professors are a possibility, but if you don't replace them with another a character, does that mean the entire Hogwarts subject either disappears or gets shunted even more to the background?

As far as Harry'peers- are those social interactions really THAT important to the story? Who is to say that one of them couldn't have fulfilled multiple roles? Likeable enough, certainly, but... well, once you get into somewhat major character levels, everyone seems crucial. I just don't think making Hermione jealous or Harry mad is necessary to the story arc.

I'll probablly eliminate... (hard question, any of the important characters are impossible to eliminate!) yeah, the Creevey twins, altough they represent, to me, how Voldemort and his deatheaters kill the inocent and pure...

This is kind of a toughie bl. Worthy of much thought but here i go... You cant get rid of any of the important characters like Harry, Dumbledore, Voldemort ( but don't fret urselves i would if i could he has ruined so many peoples lives)..... u know the rest. Minor characters are the ones ur looking for. I mean the ones who no real purpose in the movie. Hmmm... now thats where the problem occurs u see J.K Rowling was no fool she made sure even her minor characters had a little important part to play. And like Teddy said u can't eliminate the teachers cause then whose going to teach the students, ( if i could i'd eliminate Trewalney half of her predictions aren't even true anyways). I'd eliminate Pansy Parkinson from Slytherin she has no real purpose and i never liked her anyways. TTYL Bl.

I have to agree with HP. Pansy Parkinson is just plain nasty. And her nasty isn't important to the story. She just backs up Draco a bit and we have Goyle and Crabbe for that. And I can't stand her face in the movies either.

I agree with you HP. There are lots of charactors that are just add ons or walk ons that have no barring on the plot or the story at all.
