I don't know that there is a limit.
We have had a bunch on all at once, but I've never counted or thought about it.
Your question suggests that other places do have a limit.
Now I need to find out.

Now that you mention it, the system does seem glitchy when we have
a lot of people in the chatbox. Maybe there's a connection?
