I will always try to defend the underdog. The amount of Deathly Hallows bashing has been overwhelming at times. So much so, I simply stopped coming to HP for a couple weeks. Thankfully (or unfortunately) depending on which view you hold - I came back and thought - I can't be the only one who thinks the way I do. I am going to share my views.

I enjoy bantering. Particularly edgy bantering. I do feel responsible in some ways for the 'lack of edgy banter in HP' as far as discussing the faults of DH and saying JKR was lazy and took the easy way out with her seventh book.

I just think it is worthwhile challenging our own views and perceptions.
There was a LOT of 'it's all crap because it's crap' reasoning.

Having said that though - it's good to see you around wallflower. (long time between drinks - as we aussies say). I don't think your post is directed at me specifically, but felt the need to respond so I have.

I mean, when I first came here .... some of it read pretty negatively ....I was totally going to ditch HPC but I made a couple of friends that changed all that. I admit , the once or twice I've been here and someone has been really negative and rude towards me ...it was a TOTAL bummer ...and NOT what I come here for.

I agree wallflower ...respectful banter should be encourage and other's differances should be accepted without a constant demand for justification.

Hedwig, you have never grasped the concept of TIRADE. To begin with, it was conceived with tongue firmly planted in cheek. It was created by chatty people as nothing more than a forum for discussion on anything that irked them, and DH happened to be Exhibit A. I truly doubt anyone who despised DH or JKR or literary Harry himself as much as you assume we do, would even stop on this site, let alone waste precious hours debating their respective value.

If all anyone wants to be is a HP Cheerleader, there must be a site for the fan club. I thought this was a chat area, where ideas are offered and discussed. If I was mistaken, my error.

Hear, hear! And were they not only demanding justification, but agreement!! I cannot tolerate --and the reason for my absence--the sycophantic tone required in the posts. Granted, I am not Mary Poppins personality-wise, but an objective view-- however contrary it may be--respectfully submitted must be acceptable.

I just figured out something a few days ago. I deleted a post just because it was rude, not just for cussing and spoilers. I could even edit, if anything in the post is worth saving.

If you like, you can send me an Owl and tell me to fix Post #__ in such-and-such a thread.

That's a con on chat sites ....you can't actually see the body language to confirm what's being said ...hahahahaha....Hey , maybe that's a PRO ! (and ppls interpretation can be VERY different)
