Hey sumprime witch. I seem to be following you around the site.

OK so here's my confession. When I began posting here, I made some very disparaging remarks about the movies. You know the kind of thing; "those kids can't act if you paid 'em!" and "the movies are awful 'cause there's not the humour and character of the books"; "they're just a flacid impersonation"....all that. However, after being on this site for 10 days or so, and reading all the other posties' thoughts, I had to go back and watch them all again. Guess what? They're not THAT bad! They made me laugh (no crying thus far). Ok so there's no 'real' Peeves and not the 'real' Weasley twins (ie. none of their great humour and moments from the books) and the only focus is on the intrepid trio but I really like them and ... I concede, they did a good job.

I just like that we get to watch the characters grow up on the screen as well as in the books. Using your imagination is one thing but when a movie comes out it gives you a face to use when reading the next book in line. It makes it fun to see if the director makes the character look like you thought he would.

I like the movies -- not as good as the books, but they add to them because we get to see the characters and hear their voices.

I have to say that I have enjoyed all of the movies but POA. I was not happy with that one at all. I actuall went to OOTP expecting to be upset with the movie because it is my favorite book. But I do have to agree that after seeing the movies it adds to the book. In my imagination I see all of the people acting out the entire book. Some of the characters that I have read about then seen the movie totally fit what I pictured in my head (like Gary Oldman as Sirius and David Thewlis as Lupin). While others haven't ( like Fransis Del aTour as Maxime, and the girl that played Fleur). And I don't really like the new Dumbledore. But for the most part the movies for me have added a whole new aspect to the books.

I've never really liked the movies, but then in comparison to the book version, they are almost always (PJ's LOTR aside) much more dissapointing.

I thought they were all okay, that they were not horrible, as far as movies go, but that they also could have done better, especially for OotP. Some of the earlier years were good, but obviously they had less material they had to fit in, so it was easier.

Yes, the earlier books were shorter. AND now the books are LONGER and the last movie was shorter. *sigh* I wanted more.

And the other aspect is that the relationships are deeper and there is no time to show that.
