The Movies

So what do u think the different in any of the movies compared to the book. For exaple in the 3rd year when harry got his thunderbolt the book said it had to be taken away to be check. But in the movie he just got his broom and thats all. What others thing should they include in the movies.

Professor Sinistra teaches Astrology. She is mentioned in the books but never identified in the movies.

I am glad Peeves is not included in any of the movies. What a nuisance!

We've only seen 2 common rooms so far--Gryffindor and Slytherin. I'd like to see Ravenclaw's common room and Hufflepuff's common room as well.

Thats true. But if Peeves was in the movie it would make the movie just a lil bit funnier would you think. Because he like to cause all the first year students trouble. Also Peeves doesn't like Harry or any of his friends. So I would think that would be a little better. Also that would make the movie real intersecting.


Also Jo. (JK) has never mention anything about the Ravenclaw house except that it is in Hogwarts so we will see. Also I think that there was something mention in about the Hufflepuff house and where it is located.

You're joshin'yeah?? The brillance of Peeves!!!! He's gotta be up there for my fav. character. The neglect of Peeves is one of the reasons why I don't like the movies much. I mean, you've got to see the movies because... well it's Harry... but the reduction of the GLORY to glo; instead of CHARACTER we get char, instead of rich TAPESTRY we get trappings (couldn't make this last one as clever as the others- but you get the idea?!).

Characters get cameos until they're called up to perform some role in future episodes (Neville for eg.) or because we love 'em so (Gred and Forge for eg.), they're not given the true respect they deserve. Quick eg's: Neville being with the trio when they discovered Fluffy (Philosopher's Stone) and Crookshanks protecting Sirius when Harry was trying to kill/hurt him in PoA were great scenes in the books but don't feature at all in the movies. Very disappointed I gotta say.

I agree. The lack of info. about Ravenclaw and HUfflepuff in-even!- the books is awful. Downright House-ist if you ask me! I'd like to blame the editors if that's alright? I say: forget the page numbers and shipping costs, forget packaging and handling, forget all the OH&S issues associated with a 2000+ page book, I want to know everything; every JKR thought, note, character and every inch of Hogwarts AND the complete genaelogy of EVERYONE who has ever set foot in the place!!!!!!!!!!!! * deep breath and look around embarassed that I have ranted so*. Please ?

You do have some good points there. I think that Harry Potter would be the best if they include all the events that happen in the book instead of picking the main events.

Also I think that it would nice if they could also put some of the events that happen in the video games. (e.g.) POA. The trio has to go and same Neville from a goul. Now in the video Ron is the one who actually same him not Harry.

But who knows. I do know that it does cost a lot of money $$$$ to make the films. But i think that they can manage. Maybe they will do a little better in the upcoming films and will add more details.

Yay! I'm not the only one to think Peeves a dork!
They didn't have the Midnight duel in the first movie, when Malfoy tricks the boys. In the second movie, they don't have the nasty ghost deathday party (which suited me fine). In the third movie, there isn't a Quidditch championship! That really made me angry!

i don't like peeves either we don't need him in the movie he has no big parts.... the need to focus on the major parts of the book and not so stupid ghost (sorry for all the ppl who like peeves)

As for me, the list is waaaaay too long to list here. #1 - they made Sirius look like some magical wolf instead of your garden variety big black dog. (At least they fixed that problem with the latest move-OoP). The also had Wormtail use a wand to transform himself, but I'm pretty sure the books said that an animagus could do that bit of magic without the need od a wand. Like I said...the list is endless after The Chamber of Secrets. I really hate how they are leaving Dobby out of the last 2 movies...he plays such a huge and loveable role in the rest of the books he's in besides Chamber.

I was disappointed that they didn't put more emphasis on the OWLS. Remember the scene where they were working on their astrology charts and Umbridge was out to get Hagrid and Minerva gets hit with however many stunning spells while they are taking their test and they have to keep taking it. The lessons from Dumbledore's Army really paid off in the OWLS and yet they didn't show any of that.

this most recent movie (order of the phoenix) missed out about half the book i think.
there was no quidditch - no banning him for life and confiscating... no ron trying out
there 'guard' at the beginning was so wrong, not the same people and in the book i found it to be such an exciting part
there is so sign of firenze....
the occulemency lessons last for 1 basically and thats it
and the movie finished quite abruptly after the ministry scene. in the book the story carries much further, people are injured more seriously etc

a major thing they missed in the movie was the visit to st mungo's. this would have shown neville's parents and everything...

anyway i suppose it would have been a much longer movie if they included everything, but im sure i wouldnt have minded
