*GASP* No, no, they MUST be converted! Books over movies! True fans are obligated to read the books. Potter fans shall rule the world with canon.... I mean, enjoy intelligent discussion. *Cough* Yeah.

Well, in the third movie they never really mentioned that Sirius, Remus, and Pettigrew were actually the Marauders and that they created the map. I don't think Dung was ever introduced in the 5th book, although that night not be THAT important. Percy's sidestory was left out as well, so they'll either have to add it in HBP, although it doesn't really show up there, or leave it out all together.

The movies are fun and entertaining, but pale in comparison to the books. But that is usually how it seems, no? Rarely do movies live up to reader imagination, I think. But I wonder how fun they are if you have NEVER touched the books. Do they stand alone, with no point of reference, as good entertainment to your sons, MCDirector?

My sister does the same thing as McD's sons.

I think you shouldn't watch the movies unless you read the books other wise you can't enjoy them. I couldn't bear sitting in the cinema watching the HP movies with so much left not said or told.

But I guess it makes it simpler to understand and all, where us, that have read the books + seen the movies, make it alot more detailed in what we expect, there simple minded and don't expect much more then the last movie.

does that even make sense?

I guess it's a case of "never the twain shall meet."

Because to me -- the movies help fill out the sounds and sites of the books.

If you've never read a book, you don't know what your are missing and you don't care.

I don't understand it. I don't know how you can understand the movies if you don't read the books?????? Makes no sense to me at ALL.

(As a Slytherin I AM allowed to say something blunt along the lines of: )
I find that people who don't bother to read the books before seeing the movie adaption- especially if the movies are only being made because of the popularity and renown of the books- are simply of lower intellect. (No offense to your families, but I just do NOT stand for it. Such a tasteless action deserves to be at least verbally punished.)

Tough Love. That's the right thing to do here. Even if it means a Slytherinesque approach.

Yes, well, sometimes disdain for the inferior is not inappropriate, hm?

Often it may be just the right thing. If it is for their own good, which in the case of not reading the books and only watching the movies, it most certainly is.

Well don't think my offspring have not gotten a verbal throttling on more than one occasion (and being a math teacher, I'm perfectly capable of giving a quite decent one!)

But I do have to let up from time to time because it tend to put a damper on holidays.
