The bridge in the movie is where Lupin and Harry have that conversation about Harry's parents . You know, that conversation where Lupin looks off into the sunset and gets all deep and intraspective and says stuff like: 'your mother was a remarkable person. Not just an incredible witch...' AND then says: "Lily could see beauty in others even before they could see it themselves" and "Your mother was there for me when there was no-one else to talk to". Though obviously adoring of Lily, Lupin says cryptic stuff about James like 'He broke the rules'. If you really listen, he isn't complimentary at all about James. This scene on the bridge, IN THE MOVIE ONLY, is what sparked the theory that Lupin loved Lily and this theory was the launch pad of my 'Lupin loved Lily and was a Voldemort spy' theory - see other postings for the full discussions on those theories. I'm really sorry, but I can't track down where the big long discussion of all this stuff is posted. Here's a brief summary of 'the bridge discussion = Lupin loved Lily' theory: JKR has said that there are 2 things that happen in the movie ONLY (ie. not in the book of PoA) that the director put into the movie and, by doing this, the director INADVERTENTLY gave away things that are gonna happen later in bks 6&7. One of the things that happened ONLY in the movie and NOT IN THE BOOK, was the whole Hermione saying "werewolves only recognise their own kind" in the DADA class and then, later, Hermione howling to distract were-Lupin (Prof. Lupin as a werewolf) from attacking Harry. The second thing that happened ONLY in the movie PoA, that didn't happen in the book, is the whole 'scene on the bridge' between Harry and Lupin. The buzz on the chat rooms is that this scene shows that there was more to the love story of James and Lily AND that Lupin was at one time separated from his friends ("no-one else to talk to") and Lupin had a special relationship with, maybe even loved, Lily. (pls. look at mugglenet.com and/ or the Leaky Culdron for details of this discussion). We have discussed these and heaps of the other theories - like Ron is the Gryffindor heir because he roared like a lion when he ate a magical lolly in the movie and that Draco will die because Hermione was feeding Buckbeak dead ferrets (Draco wasa a ferret once) and that Fudge will die because a crow landed on his head in the movie .... - but I can't remember where they are posted... sorry, I've looked and looked! Anyway, that's the significance of the bridge; it's just one of many theories vying to be one of the two things that happened in the movie and not in the book of PoA, that will foreshadow something that might happen later......... ............ Good luck |

| kataya: Lupin is the tragic figure isn't he. Then again so was Mad eye and look what JKR did with him!? I dunno... there's something about Lupin I still don't trust. He's there kind of hovering around the centre doing ... ? ... who knows what... ? Naa I reckon he'll be unveiled as a bad guy, either only back in Lily and James' day or still bad- spy, today. This stuff about things in the movie of PoA giving us clues is v. interesting though, yeah? Knowing JKR, it'll end up being the most obscure, ridiculous reference in the movie to the book that no-one in the world will get (a la Cedric). I'm with you though kataya, I think the idea of tragic Lupin being in love with adorable Lily is just too romantic. What if that secret love turned bitter? What if he got sick of watching that 'Mr Charisma- James' got the girl and did something stupid like seek revenge by trying to become the Potters' secret keeper? When that failed, did Lupin, ... ohh, I dunno .... maybe tell Voldemort to recruit Pettigrew...? Was Sirius right when he thought Lupin was the spy??? The movie of PoA left out some interesting stuff but man, it gave us some diabolical clues as well....; clues that even gave JKR the "chills"! |

| I would have definitely said more about the marauder's map, and how Sirius, Lupin, James, and Pettigrew (he's not on first name terms with me...lol) made it. Also how James was Prongs! Just my way of making it better. But it was my favourite film out of the three so far!!! Ciao, HarryPotterSnogger1990 (AKA: Heathre) |

| Hello out there. This is my first post and well I am new to the HP books though I am on the 4th now, I am totally in love with them!!! Well I agree with who ever said the Firebolt should have been given to Harry around Chirstmas and Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw and The Quidditch Final should have definitely been in there. I too think that the map should have been explained, they dont even mention Prongs in the movie and that really touched me when I read the book. Also I think that the argument about the prank pulled on Snape should have been in there and him coming into the hospital wing after Harry and Hermione freed Sirius should have happened. But what I noticed in the movie was that Sirius was bit by Lupin when he had been a werewolf, then by werewolf "laws" shouldn't Sirius become one too. After seeing that I was mad! Also in the movie why doesn't Harry tell Lupin about the patronus? He just lets him walk away, that too made me mad! Also I see that in the movie while playing Hufflepuff that it was not Cedric Diggory (the one we know from GoF) playing seeker. And he becomes frozen and falls away, and then they dont even tell Harry that they lost, well how could anyone have won without either seekers? If I am incorrect about anything please point in out to me. I am new that this. Thanks. Oh also I think Harry should have spent the 2 weeks in The Leaky Cauldron and purchased his books him self. I would have liked to see the Monster Book of Monsters in the cage, and see Hermione buy Crookshanks. Thats all :) |
