I was disappointed in the movie too. I understood what was happening because I had read the book...however my father, who has not read the books, didn't understand why things were happening and didn't think the movie made much sense. Looking at it from his point of view he was completely right. The movie was only made for the book readers and not the movie fans.

PRECISELY! In the first movie for instance the bit when Harry and Ron were giving Norbert to Bill at night, none of that part made sense!!
And I reckon Lupin and Sirius looked completely WRONG in the movies.

Yeah, I agree with most of the posts above me. Luckily, I started getting into the books about a year before the movie was coming out so I didn't have to be confused and all that stuff. The movie dissapointed me, but I've ranted about that too much, hehe.

Yep, that's what I've been saying. The movies stink. Where's Peeves?!?! How can you do a HP movie without Peeves??? Lockheart was hideous, when he should have been a heart-throb. Lupin was too dorkey. Serius should have been a major heart-throb, with an "elbow-length tangle." The casting I liked was, of course, the main trio. I also liked the casting of Dumbledore, McGonnagle and Snape. But I'd say that half the cast was wrong.

Anyway, making a decent movie out of a book like this is inherently impossible. See my old post.
The thread is now titled, "An Idea for the HP Movies"
It's in the forum: Members of the Order // Platform Nine & three-quarters // Order of the Phoenix.

I agree, especially about Lockhart, he was so cheesy! And no Peeves, and the skinny werewolf that looked like a big rat! They could've done so much better....
