Hey I no this probably seems far fetched, (like a lot of my zainy ideas) but if enough people asked them to do that would they? And if they would do the two disc thing could we do something to contribute to that? Dunno just a thought.

We talked about it. You can try again if you like. I found the old thread, "petition," or something like that, and brought it to the top for you. But you would probably do better to start fresh with a new thread.

At the end of "The Fellowship of the Ring,"
I heard people walking out of the theatre grumbling about the non-ending.
They obviously had not read the book, so who cares what they think.
Ending the movie there made sense to everyone who matters.
The others deserve no consideration.[/b]
That's possibly the most arrogant thing I've heard you say. It worked even if you hadn't read the book, as long as you knew it was a trilogy. Everyone who matters? Did you really just say that? Everyone who sees a movie matters. The reason the Harry Potter films can command the budget they do is because they know a lot of people will see it. If they didn't command that budget, they wouldn't be able to do all the visuals and then you'd be complaining that they didn't work hard enough there. No matter what you may be thinking now, making a 22-part series wouldn't even hold a hard-core fan's attention, let alone a casual fan. A film has to be a complete whole in a way a chapter of a book or an episode of a tv show doesn't.

You're pride in being a fan of the books is all well and good, but you've taken it to the point of an absurd elitism here.

Perhaps. But I'm not taking it back. I'm sick of being treated like a minority. The media aims everything at the dumb people. When will it be our turn? Why should we lower our standards and make excuses?

The Lord of the Rings worked because they cared enough to get it right.

They don't need to deliberately make a bad movie just to make their money. The half-wits will see it no matter what the movie-makers do.

We don't know that. What we DO know is that trying to cram it into a 2.5 hour movie DOES NOT work. They have proven it four times.

Your loyalty is admirable. But seriously, folks, skipping past all the denial and wishful thinking, the movies have all stunk.

They have not! They are good considering that they are getting as much as possible into the movie as there is in the book. Might I add, that JK Rowling herself will probably be agreeing to the changes, so they can't be THAT bad if she's agreeing with them.

You have yet to give any real criticism of the films. You just keep saying they're awful. I won't believe that you're in this MENSA minority until you give some on target criticism other than "it didn't have every single thing the books did."

Yes we do. It's the way films are. It's the way plays are. We've been doing this for a few millenia now. We've figured out that you can't break up something like that and have it work. You're just desperately trying to find a way to have every moment of the books appear on screen. Not only would that not be financially possible, it wouldn't be interesting. You can't approach the films the same way you do the books.

i do agrea with psyduck that the movies suck and the people could spend a little more time on it but i must point out the fact that the actors of the kids are geting older and will soon be to old to play in the roles of there charecters because they will look old so the reson they have been hurrying into the movies and leaveing things out is cause of the time factors and the movies suck for this reson but we can not really do much to turn the people age back and stop them untill they get the movies done i think they could have done a little better even with being rushed but its good for being rushed also

It's not neccarily that they don't have every detail it's that (in my opinion) that they leave out major parts of the book. It's a mockery of J.K.Rowling's hard work and effort, to cast off things that are vital to the story line. *hands on hips*

Well, don't the directors ask JK what they have got to have in the movies, ya kno, the most important tidbits. Probably not.
I guess I could be just thinking hopefully, but it would be nice of them to ask her whats important rather than try to figure it out for themselves, ya kno.

I still don't think that we should judge the movie until it has came out, though. It just seems so unfair, ya kno.

I know that at the very least she is in close communication with the screenwriter.
