so, I do not have a problem with the new Dumbledore, as an actor. But, in the Goblet of Fire, he does not even act as Dumbledore would. Dumbledore always believed Harry with everything- he was such a powerful wizard, and he trusted people. But in the Goblet of Fire, he runs up to Harry and yells at him and shakes him- DUMBLEDORE WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!! Dumbledore also seems sort of stupid in the movie, when he is not like that all in the books. That is a big part of the movie that I do not like, and my friends, not being as avid of a fan as I do not understand why it bothers me so. And, as another point- when he is fighting the dragon, he does a pretty crappy job of summoning the Firebolt. He just sort of says it. He would have needed to yell it with much more focus and power than he did in the movie. That is my rant for the day.

I'm with you on this one. The movie stunk sooooo bad.

Of course he wouldn't. He flipped out when Umbridge did it to Cho's little snitch friend.

No, you left me behind on this one.
Do you remember Hermione saying that distance doesn't matter?

Yeah I saw the movie the day it came out and have only started to read the HP books over the past two weeks. I am already nearly done with GoF but when I started to read it the part of the movie that stuck in my head the most was Dumbledore yelling at Harry.
It almost looked like he was going to choke him. That image is still in my head and I dont see any word in the book about him being furious.
I dont know how JK could have OKed that?
I dont think GoF was the WORST movie though I like them all very much, I do think the 3rd and 4th were the best so far because I really REALLY liked the dementor's (my favortie part of all the movies is when Harry makes the Patronus into Prongs - god I love that part, I nearly cry every time because I am so proud), I really repect Gary Oldman, I thought he was perfect as Black, and in GoF I loved Ralph Fiennes.
I really hope the next movie is as good but not as disapointing as they all have been...though I guess there is no doubt in my mind that the 5th movie will be the most disapointing of them all.

yeah, this is absolutely what I think.
I was soo shocked when I first saw the Dumbledore in the fourth film. First when he shouted SILENCE in the great hall. That is not how a respectful person like Dumbledore would act. I can't believe that they made him like this in the film. He is horrible! I'm happy that he isn't like that in the book.

Of course, not all of the blame can be given to the actor because he didn't right the script. We should be going to the directors over this matter! Sometimes it seems as though the writers of the script have never picked up one of the books, ya kno.

Gothickat - did you really like the dementors?? I was completely baffled as to why they were flying.
I agree with all of ya bout Michael Gambon. I hated the new Dumbledore style even from POA movie. He's too manic and if you just watched the 3rd and 4th movies and didn't read the books, you would get a horrible portrayal of Dumbledore.

I think that Order has the potential to be one of the best movies. They need to concentrate on the DA and on the battle at the end. The death of Sirius should be a real tear jerker and the revelation of Neville Longbottom's role will make it a super cliff-hanger. This could be great.

When I first thought about the film, I thought it would be really hard to make, because a lot of it is really emotional and social storylines. But, like you say, the death of Sirius, Umbridge and the battle at the end could make a fantastic film. I think the end of the film will be rushed though (I mean the scene in Dumbledore's office). I think a lot of time will be given to the ministry and the prophecy scene will be ruined by Michael Gambon. This point in the book was a real turning point in Dumbledore and Harry's relationship and I hope they do it justice. Doubt it tho. Plus it's a really dark book and they need to capture that which could be difficult.
