I think Rowena created her House name so that it would be logically and strictly unshortenable.

Although Rave would work in a pinch, it doesn't quite have the same ring as Gryff, Slyth, or Puff, hmm?

(See, my bantering is useful. Everything has a reason- even if its' just my own entertainment).
