In Book 1, chapter 5, Hagrid and Harry go to Ollivanders Wand Shop. Mr. Ollivander says, "Rubeus Hagrid. How nice to see you again...Oak, 16 inches, rather bendy wasn't it?" The he says, "Good wand that one. But I suppose they snapped it in half when you got expelled?" Of course Rubeus tells Ollivander that he still has the pieces and Ollivander says, "Well I hope you're not using them to do magic." Rubeus says "No" but of course he has the pieces in his pink umbrella. Rubeus was expelled for contributing to the death of Moaning Myrtle and Dumbledore hired him as gamekeeper. Now however, since we know that he was not responsible for anyone's death, why won't the Ministry of Magic restore Hagrid's wand to him? What do you think?

I don't think Hagrid was expelled for Moaning Myrtles' death or for anything to do with her death. If he had been held responsible they would have put him in Azkaban not just expel him. I think that he was expelled for keeping an illegal pet/ Aragog. This would have been the only charge they could have got him on if their legal system is anything like ours is supposed to be: Innocent until proven guilty. I think the then headmaster and the Ministry thought that Aragog had done Myrtle in but I reckon Dumb. came to Hagrid's defence and pointed out that it was cirrcumstancial evidence against Hagrid. I'm sure the powers that be/ were, wanted Hagrid plopped in prison but an expolsion was the best they could get. Therefore, 'cause he wasn't charged, just suspected, of Myrtle's death, there's no reinstatement of wand to be made. Even if I'm wrong , *sarcastic, condesending gaffaw* even in the minds of his critics Hagrid was only guilty of allowing a monster into the castle not physically killing Myrtle himself. The old 'I own a pit-bull who rips someone's throat out but it's in their nature; it's not my fault' defence. What kind of legal system do they have? No lawyers?

Buffy: So you are saying that his wand was broken as a result of his expulsion. I agree. You say his expulstion was because of raising an illegal pet. Makes sense. Okay. How's this? After all these years, Hagrid has proven himself to be a reliable semi-wizard. Don't you think he could appeal to the Ministry and go through Wizard Rehabilitation Classes and be awarded his wand once again? After all he was just a boy, a BIG boy, but a boy who lacked good judgment at the age of 16. Of course, a case could be made for the fact that his judgment hasn't improved much since then. However, with wizards like Mundungus Fletcher running around, I think it is curious that Hagrid's situation doesn't deserve a re-think. Curious. Very Curious.

'Restortive Justice' comes to the magical world!! Hagrid rehabilitated...?...perish the thought! Given nis history and that little stint in Azkaban, he would have to be considered a hostile witness for himself. The only hope Hagrid has of regaining his brolly ... umm... wand, would be if Dumbledor becomes prime minister, which, by the way I think has a good chance of happening. Really missed you Zonko 'm old pal. If we could only get Potter Dog to come home we'd have America <span style=\'color:blue\'>**** YEAH! back.

that is a good question... unfortunetly this is not my speacialty in the questions i answer.. but ill give it a try just look at his past and cornealius fudge ould't want hgred to have his wand back if he thought that dumbledoor was makeing an army agains him i mean realy... ok thse are my 2 sulutions.... any1 agree with me?

Buffy: Don't you get out to civilized parties? I thought if you weren't on the computer, then you were probably driving your Jeep through the Outback looking for old stations to burn down so you could roast croc bobs, drink Fosters and play your didgerydoos. The law of averages states that 2 out of 3 parties will be civilized if not downright boring. That means that you have to go to 4 civilized parties before you get to the 2 wild & crazy ones. So far, in 2005, my score is: Christians 1.....Lions 0. Suprime Witch: You may have a point. Perhaps it is better if everyone assumes Hagrid can't do magic. Maybe he would just get into more trouble. After all, he is the biggest kid on the block and he does get blamed for a lot of things.
