Zonko: You are my 'civilised company'. Sorry mate, I thought you understood the responsibilities when you signed on. I don't get your analogy: 'chrisians 1, lions 0'. 'Cause understanding this depends on whether I knew if a party given by christians was more fun than a party given by lions or visa versa. Reading between the lions , I understand that you had a wow... sorry ... a growl of a time at your party and for that I am glad.Sexy Draco Lover: Yep, you are right. We know that Hagrid's wand was snapped in two when he was expelled and that he now hides the pieces in his umbrella handle and uses it illegally for magic when he has to. timewalker: I think it's a big deal because snapping the wand is the symbolic throwing Hagrid out of the magical 'gang' but also it's the very practical throwing Hagrid out of the magical gang. You know how elitest these magicals are, imagine the shame of being not only expelled from a school but also being expelled / x-spelled from a community, a culture/ a civilisation. It's the kind of existence that squibs are forced to lead; fringe dwellers with no respect and not taken seriously. The difference between squibs and Hagrid is that the squibs had no choice whereas Hagrid was x-spelled (I like that pun) because of some act; failing, choice on his part. Therefore, Hagrid gets all the embarassment AND added humiliation, by having his wand broken. I reckon it's a really powerful symbol and an ongoing 'scarlet letter'; black mark on his name that will follow him forever. Just because Hagids still got a lot going for him and can still do magic secretly, doesn't change all the social stigma that he has by having his wand broken. Hagrid can't get a new one because the society has confiscated his rights to own a wand - WoW that is powerful act!! Is having your wand broken worse than going to prison? After prisoners have done their sentence aren't they meant to be accepted back into society. Whereas Hagrid has been made a 'lesser being'/ a non-magical (in the eyes of the majority) with no means of recompense or reprieve! Pretty harsh. Where's the restortive justice there?!! Where's his means to appeal?!! Forced to use illegal magic/ be a criminal because he's been labelled a criminal - vicious circle. OI, WHO'S NICKED MY SOAP BOX ??!!!!

Buffy: Right on! Hagrid deserves to have his wand restored. Question is, why doesn't Dumbledore champion his cause? You don't need to graduate from Hogwarts to be a wizard. I'd be willing to bet that Mundungus Fletcher didn't graduate from any school. Yet he is permitted to do magic and he even belongs to the Order of the Phoenix. Hagrid is indeed getting the short straw. Buffy, you defended Hagrid beautifully. Pity you are not a witch. Or are you?

Zonko: me old comrade, me old storm the barracades brotha, I reckon Dumb might be picking his fights. Probably drawing attention to Hagrid with a flibberty-gibbitt (not just fun to say, even fun to type!!) of a minister about, might not be the be the smartest course. As soon as Dumb becomes minister and just before he dies, I think he will pardon Hagrid. Then again, as you say, whats the point. Hagrid seems to be doing alright just the way he is. Though, you do get the impression that he still feels the weight of the shame, so... maybe restoration will be the way to go. Maybe it'll be like at the end of Star Wars when they all go up and get their medals: " And to you Straw-man, here's a brain!". Sorry. No offence to Hagrid lovers - aren't we all!!!??- out there. I'm a liar and I am not a witch and all witches tell the truth....

SLYTHERIN4ME: of course you silly goose!! What would make you think that you're not welcome anywhere you choose to put your long, hag-like, greasy, snot blotted, pimple ridden, oozing bubouses, lond hairs from the nasals and hooked, pointy nose?? I say 'Welcome'!!!! Jocking!!! :P (Hey, where's the smiley witht he googly eyes?)

Katy: Is a FRUITER the same as a NUTTER? Cause if it is, then you're right. Buffybuff is definitely a Fruiter. Sytherin4me: You are most certainly welcome in any post on any day at any time. I'm a Ravenclaw, Potterdog is a Hufflepuff, Buffy is a Gryfindor etc. So we need a Slytherin to make this work. Have you ever tried to mentally put the members of your family or your friends into the 4 houses? I like to play the game. It is surprising how easily people fit into the catagories.

Slytherin4Me: i asked to be in Slytherin and they still put me in Hufflepuff (do you hear that Zonko? BuffyBuff is a Hufflepuff!! not a Gryffindor). I have decided to embrace my fate and now I am proud to be Hufflepuff!! But still, I do have a fondness for Slytherin: The house that I didn't get *sigh, sniffle and look longingly into the horizon* Zonko: Those house sortings are strange aren't they? Every one (about 10) I tried pretty much, put me in Hufflepuff. My kid kept getting into Gryffindor. Spooky!! Maybe the sorting hat should be the new divinations teacher.
