The books are good if you have a great imagination and can picture the storyline in your mind. IMHO, it is well worth the effort to read the books.

In a week chek to C if your topic has at least 20 replys or close.
If not change topic
Also if you have any questions about Harry Potter Every on is going to answer them
My advice would be to read all the books but it dose'nt hurt to ask 4 an opinion.

When I had to pick a topic for my thesis, I dabbled for a while with a topic that I thought might get me there if I got the opportunity to extend it into a PhD. So I forced these really undoable topics just because of my heart felt fantasy of getting to the Caribbean. Didn't work.

Have you met icemerriweather yet. She's absolutly lovable and wise and funny and from manila, Phillipines. There was a New Zealander too, can't remember his name. Wonder why there aren't any Britians? Haven't met any CAnadians either.
