I think your Animangus can be chosen, didn't Sirius chose to be a dog so he could have some control over Lupin when he transformed and I think Peter chose a rat so he could easily get to the Womping willow knob.

I doubt that Peter would be loyal enough to actually choose something like a rat just so he could help Remus by touching the knot.

I think it just worked out that way, at least I felt that was implied.

So the question is, do we know Sirius' patronus? Was it a dog?

That's ok for your animagus, but you'd want your patronus to be somethinig a bit more elegant.

Well, I find it ironic but realistic that he got killed because he showed, in the end, some remorse or guilt or hestiation. I felt a little bad for him about that.

But he was a traitor, so I wanted to see him dead. If less than I wanted to see Bellatrix die, I still wanted him to be offed. (Bit anticlimatic, really.)
