I remember reading about a special potion and I remember reading also about Harry's house being blown up because Hagrid said to Harry 'I pulled you out of the wreck and your head was bleeding from that scar'
and does the fact that colin creevey is a muggle-born change annything about the camera?

Hey daniel luva, welcome on board the 'make it up as we go' train to ... ? ! Yeah, I think uo're right; I think there was something about photographic potion being explained to Creeevy. It must have been in Chamber of Secrets.

So what do you reckon, do the subjects of photos and/or paintings lead an existence just as 'full' and 'vital' as human beings? Are they given life when they are made to 'come alive' by the magical potion?

I think the thing with that is that because the potion has something to do with the whole theory that pictures can capture the soul, like have u eva heard about the whole thing where some religions think that a camera can take peoples souls away when ppl take a picture?

anyways on that theory i think that because of that potion and because of the hard work and love that someone puts into a painting that a part of someone ie. the subject goes into it therefore it can talk and give advice.
dunno just puting something in there

I think you might be right about the putting someones chaaracter into the photos and paintings but how much autonomy; how much self-realisation and growth can that 'subject- person' have? The subjects go off... where? Do they have a whole world inwhich to live? Are they immortal? What's their link to the human that they are the subject of? Are they at the persons ' beck and call (that's a funny old saying too)?

I think the thing with it is that they inherited so to say the subjects feelings, Memories and point of view so that they can contact people from beyond the grave
or something like that anyways
u know how it goes just my opinion in the matter

Yeah I agree Daniel_luva. The portraits reflect the nature of the subject if not their world; their circumstances, but do they reflect the subject's growth/ their changing circumstance or is that autonomous?
Does this make them a subjective, objective subject?? My head hurts

Potterdog strikes again! You are right. Why can you talk to a painting and not to a photo. And if wizards don't know poopy about modern inventions like telephones and automobiles, then what the heck are they doing with cameras? Collin Creavey had a camera that took magic moving photos. Isn't a camera a muggle artifact? Why isn't Arthur Weasley all over the little git like white on rice? I ask you! Does JKR think we fell off a turnip truck just this morning? Well...I for one am not a turnip!
uh .. if you dooooo read the storys then... you would know that theyy spell thing the film.. or make the magical film..(cant remamber) liek they do o many things.. and then cameras hae been there for a while... and they are in black and white... and then from the idea of the camera they added this and that

they do so with lots of thing... car.. etc.

(well half of that was inference.. but i bet jk expected us to get that)

oh... and about the painting thing i think i read somewhere that the paintings are 'spelled'.. u probable know that...and that.. they are... the paintings in the headmasters room thing was 'spelled' by the person in the photo and thier memorys and thoughts are put in it

BEFORE they die.. like right befor...
heh
