Yeah but I wonder how it is done. Can it be done after death or do you need to do it shortly before, what if Harry's parrent have a panting of them selves, and no one has given it to him for some reason. I just can not wrap my brain on why certain magic works one way for some and diferently for others? <_<

Zonko the reason why those spirits came in the way they did was that they were coming in reverse order, I am sure if Harry had held on longer their would be more spirits, I am sure V killed a lot more people then what JK put in the book, it would have taken a week to get them all out.

Buffy: yeah I know it does seem a little goofy that more people do not turn to the picture, Because Dumbledore does, and that works for him. My question is if Dumbledore can talk to old head masters, then why can't Harry talk to his parents. Does it only work in painting, do photos not work. Could there be a painting with Harry's parents that he can talk to? Or may be there is a ritual that has to be performed upon your death. I do not know, but it would seem to me if I could talk to a painting from the past I would sure as heck listen. I mean they are quote on quote a Fly on the Wall.
Great point PDog but if they were coming out in reverse order how come James came out before LIly?

Love your thoughts on using/ bringing the paintings into the community more. It is strange how photo's can't talk or people in the Erised and yet a prior incantatem can ??
How's it ddone?: Maybe some kind of magical paint... But then timewalker makes a great point: about what Nearly Headless says, "Have to be wizards" (pardon the sexist lang. in that quote). If you painted a muggle even with 'magic paint' or whatever, would it work?

Potterdog strikes again! You are right. Why can you talk to a painting and not to a photo. And if wizards don't know poopy about modern inventions like telephones and automobiles, then what the heck are they doing with cameras? Collin Creavey had a camera that took magic moving photos. Isn't a camera a muggle artifact? Why isn't Arthur Weasley all over the little git like white on rice? I ask you! Does JKR think we fell off a turnip truck just this morning? Well...I for one am not a turnip!

Buffy: you have a great poin one that was pointed out to JKR and the editor admited that they made a mistake and all new books have been changed to the reverse order. I thin that if you used a magical pain on a muggle that it would be fine because they even use it on mundain items like a rock or even animals. I do not think the subject matter at but rather the person painting it, Which brings me to another point why do they not have an art class at hogwarts???????????????

Zonko I am with you on that, I want to know who decided what is a magical item and what is not, Why is a rug a muggle item but camera is not, I guess you wouls never find them with digital, but still if you bewitch something then it should be considers magical. But back to the subject of why can you not talk to more paintings, Is the reason why their is nothing to be found of harr's parrents because it all blew up when V tried to kill him? Their has to be some left of them other then that phote album, shouldn't their be

katya: I don't think she does love Harry. I don't think she thinks about him at all except in annoyance. It his hard to believe that someone could watch a person grow up and live in the same house as them for 11 years and grow no attachment but Petunia is exrtaordinary like that. Unfortunately, this, i believe, is her only talent. JKR's said that our Peti. is all muggle.

I'm with you PDog and Zonko : magic carpets and Ford Angelas are a no no,s but brooms and cameras are fine?
What's with those bloody quills? They can't cut'em some slack and use a pen once in awhile!! Some times their world seems so advanced to ours and others it's stuck in the past.

Wonder what going to the movies would be like if taped and played by magical camera? Could the 'viewer' be able to react with the characters? Is there any home movies of Harry with folks? Was everything destroyed, as PDog asks, at Grimmuld Pl? Were they living there or just hiding there?

hey yeah if it was hidden by magic did the explosion break the spell, how did Hagrid get in to get him. OMG I just had a thought that makes me want to cry what if Dumbledore brought Harry to see his old house?????????????????? for what reason I do not know maybe to see what his family was like, or to see if he could tap into his thought of what happened the night v almost died. =0 that would be so crazy, just the thought my spine shiver

Wow, I never thought of that. So if Voldemort only found the place 'cause Pettigrew told him where it was (secret keeper 'n all) and Hagrid found the place ... how? Was Dumbledore a secret keeper too? Probably, but I thought the idea was to only have one and if Dumb. was a secret keeper why can't he have just been the secret keeper? Therefore, I reckon there was only one: Pettigrew. So how did Hagrid find the house and Harry then??? If explosions can destroy protective magic, what's stopping an all out attack on Hogwarts? I've overheard a couple of people posting that this might well happen!

The Demeantors could attack Hogwarts anytime, they didn't seem to have any trouble getting in. I wonder if all magical creatures, ghosts etc can find and enter Hogwarts when ever they like?

i have a theory abut the cameras mabe a camera is both muggle artifact and wizard

remmeber colin's pictures don't move until his friend tells him about the potion that makes it male the potion that makes the painting move is to complacating for a picture and mabe you need the brain of the one that is in the painting for it to talk sensable

timewalker: you are totally brillant. Yep, I remember that business 'bout needing 'special' developing potion too. Well done. So Creevy's camera was just a run 'o the mill kind. So they trow bit of that in the paint and they come alive. Here's a question then: does the photo/ painting keep the character; knowledge and memories of the person they are of at the time that the photo/ painting is taken or do they age, learn and therefore mature independantly to the 'real' person. Are representations considered 'others' or are they lesser beings because they were made rather than born? Suppose this connects to the whole 'why don't magicals seem all that interested in the other existences that they have the great fortune to come in contact with' rave I've spouted before.
