I don't think they were supposed to be specifically significant, either...but still, Rowling made a timeline and family trees and all that....so I'll go with it.

Well, we still know what year Harry was born in and you never know if it could be important or not.
Of course, I can see your point, if she never included it before then shouldn't really be important. But maybe it's one of those things she waits on before adding, ya kno.

Actually we don't know. The entire timeline (including figuring out when Harry was born) is based on Nearly Headless Nick having his 500th death day party in CoS and he died in 1492. The trouble is, there are inconsistencies throughout the book with this. It was never intended to be set in a very specific time.
