Neville's Destiny/past

The truth about whether Neville could have been the Chosen One instead of Harry!

JK says that she made Harry have the right idea, it would all depend if Neville's parents would have willingly sacrificed themselves for him.See, it could of been either Harry or Neville that got the scar, but because Voldemort chose Harry and thought him the greater threat and Lily sacrificed herself for Harry, Harry became the Chosen One no matter how much Harry resents it! So what does this leave for Neville? Nothing, poor Neville. But, JK does comfirm the rumors that Neville has a HUGE part in the seventh book, yay Neville!

I've been looking for a place to put in this new idea I have, and this seems like as good a place as any. I was rereading the books again and every time I do this I come up with more "what ifs". So, I apologize if this is really far-fetched or complete nonsense to the plot, thus far.
In the first book we learn that LV has killed a unicorn and drank its blood. In a later book, we learn that Hagrid routinely collects unicorn hair, and Slughorn gets a wad of it. Still later we learn that Neville has a new wand, unicorn hair and cherry, and that Ollivander has gone missing.
A few things popped into my head. What if Neville's wand contains the hair from the unicorn that LV had killed? Remember that LV is supposed to have a cursed, half-life because of this act. Also, what if LV needs Ollivander because he has serious wand issues ( the brother wands ), and Ollivander creates a wand for LV that has that same unicorn's hair in it?
This doesn't bring Neville into the "Chosen One" running, but it seems to me like JK has laid several hints to Neville's possible doings in the last book. Any thoughts?

That is a good theory. I never thought of that being the reason for Voldemort wanting Ollivander - to fix his wand, or even to make him another wand. But that makes sense, because he knows that his wand won't work if he tries to duel against Harry - priori incantatum will happen. Of course, if Harry and Neville were both fighting Voldemort and Neville threw himself in front of Harry in a duel then if Voldemort's new wand is of the same core as Neville's we know that once again it won't work.

That's really a good idea. With the wand and the unicorn connection. And yay!! Neville gets a big part.

Where did you see that Neville gets a big part in the 7th book?

I can't see Hagrid giving a Unicorn hair to Olivander after it had died suspisciously.
He wouldn't do it, he wouldn't do it without saying something, and Olivander wouldn't knowingly take it.
Slughorn might snitch it, not knowing its history.
Still, I can't see Hagrid keeping something like that around.

I have been wondering about Olivander and Fortesque.
We have a thread about Olivander around here somewhere.
I think it's most likely that Olivander is in hiding, like Slughorn.
