well the ramayan isn't reallly a love story its more of the life of rama and the lessons he tried to teach humans. and its about good conquering evil. the kidnapping of sita is also about good vs evil. i think your confusing fire thing with another story. i think that the story of parvati and shiva.
the ruby is a tika just like a small dot you can apply it with khol or liquid eyeliner and even with the pencil eyeliner. or there is the stick on ones you just have to stick it on. and there are all kinds. i don't wear it all the time like sometimes when i'm going to a puja (a prayers) or something. and maybe if i'm dressind in indian clothes.

and there is also the bindi where you hook in your hair to fall on your forehead which one are you talking about the bindi or tika???
