Yep the movie and every reference in the movie, was 'Philospers' Stone'. But the US is the anomoly 'cause the original Br. edition and movie script is The Philosophers' Stone. What you gotta ask is why the US changes?

Another eg is Mel Gibbson's Aussie film 'Mad Max' being called 'Road Warrior'(or something like that) in the US. Why?? We get all your language and ALL your films and products 'un-Aussified' yet ours have to be Americanified for your market???? V. v. weird!! Kind condensending to you Yanks I reckon; like theyey've got to change/ explain stuff more to you or you won't get it??? Interesting. I wonder who makes these descisions and why???

On the subject, why does the US Hard back of GoF have almost 200!!! pages more than the Aus. Hard back and (I presume) the Br??? I presume the Br is similar to the Aus publication 'cause ours is typeset in Br. (I'm thinking that you need larger print - Only joshin' O course!!! Can't help myself!!) On day I'd like to sit down with both versions and find out the difference,

Mad max and The Road Warrior came out here as two separate movies. Road Warrior was after the apocalypse and Mad Max (which came out later) was a prequel to the series when he was still a cop. Its interesting to know that only the US had the sorcerer's stone.

fenrirbound: I don't 'KNOW' anything I write. Sorry if you thought I was somekind of 'can-back-up-her-claims', 'knows-stuff' kinda postie. I have obviously misled you in THE most horrendous way! I'm sorry. fenrirbound, let me make it as clear as I possibly can right now, I make EVERYTHING I say up on a whim of a moment. Give me a soap box, about anything, and I'm on it! I don't really mean it and I don't actually 'know' anything. Clear? :P
Having said all that, I do KNOW that the original, written by JKR, first book, is called 'The Philosopher's Stone' We need a Britiish postie to sort this for certain but my money's - surprisingly enough - on me being right: 'Philosopher's Stone' (why would they change the title just for the Aus market???) Still begs the question 'Why change it for the US market?'

Buffybaby, if I were going to believe anything in this crazy, mixed up world in which we live, it would be your word above all else. Everything I do or say is a failed attempt to impress you and get you to marvel at my mental awareness and perpesacity.

Congrats!! It's worked!!! You're aptiude and general.. you know... smarts... and...stuff, is V. impressive.

No-one's ever tried to impress me before. I feel all flushed and squirmy inside.

Mad Max, here in the land of Oz, came out first. It was set after the apocalypse but there were still cities and a police force, of which Max was a member. This is the one inwhich his wife and kid get killed. The second was... can't remember the title but Max leaves the city and goes into the desert where he hooks up with petrol pumping, boomerang throwing, hippies. ... the other movie/s(?) don't bare talking about really. You get the impression that society is falling apart/ de-evolving as the series goes on (kinda like Mel's acting career and his accent- :P ).

PDoggy: I'm with you, I think. 'Perpescity' had me reaching under the monitor and pulling out the old dic. My dictionary doesn't have it. I think it means that fenrirbound wants to prove that he is a van/ 'people mover' with a large 'person' capacity. ??? Or that he has a really good view of the city. ??

Please to excuse my spelling of such a devilish word. I looked it up to impress Buffy. (I know I failed) Perspicacity. It means discernment, sharpness, acuity, perceptiveness, insightfulness, wisdom. Here endth the lesson.
