| Morally, I think that every spell should be used with caution and care as to when and where it is called for. There are some really bad spells and the fact that they exist is scary, but they should be know to all who might encouter them. So that a counter spell can be intreduced or if needed to use the orginal to defend yourself, only if nessicary. But then that is why there is a school and family to teach young ones the difference and the dangers in casting spells. |

| Every spell and every spell useage is in context. Certainly spells like the Unforgiveables shouldn't be prevalent, but I don't think Sectumsempra(sp?) is quite up to that level... I think it's more borderline dark but definitely far from the worst that needs to be completely outlawed. Of course, as with all undocumented offensive spells, it's an "approach with caution" label. The Half-Blood Prince's other spells are mostly harmless, I would think. There isn't a concrete reason they shouldn't be used, and some like "Muffalito" are definitely useful. Sure, they could probably be turned to harmful intent, but then so can any spell- Wingardium Leviosa can go from first-year Hovering Charm to fatal if used in the wrong way (Off a cliff? What about the troll? What if that was a person the the club was a much larger object?) :/ |
