I think Harry may be a decendent of Godric Gryffindor and here are a couple of my reasons. First his parents lived in Godric's Hollow. Second Voldemort chose him over a pure-blood and we know Voldemort is a decendent of Salazar Slytherin and Slytherin and Gryffindor hated each other. Third in book two Dumbledor told Harry only a true GRYFFINDOR could have pulled out Godric's old sword. The last reason is that there is some rumor going around about the Half Blood Prince. It's about some old man who looks like a lion from all his hair. Gryffindor's house symbol is a lion, so we could be finding out the truth about Harry's ancestors.

bubba5150: Hello. Isn't that amazing that you should post this topic JUST after I'd posted the below on another thread:'Voldemort is a 'Half Blood''!!! Great minds thinking alike or what!? Any way have a read and go have a read of the 'Voldemort is a 'half blood'' thread to see others' thoughts kinda about this, and I'll get back to you on your theories and see if we can make this thing work.

Yeah, do we absolutely know for sure that the Murauders were all in the same house?? It seem pretty unlikely that they'd be able to plan and do all the stuff that they did without having the same common room and classes and.. well, lives... but???

Voldemort is def. the heir of Slytherin and he hasn't got any kids (Jo said) but what about Harry being the heir of Gryfindor?? We know from the sorting hat that there was great contest between Godric and Salazaar, so what if the battle between Voldemort and Harry is a continuing of that conflict??

Hey, this might be the tie to CoS!!!?? Remember that Jo's said that there's something that Harry discovered in the CoS book that will relate to the last books ? What if it is the things that Harry discovered in CoS were:
1) that Voldemort is the heir to Slytherin and
2)Harry really belong in Gryfindor and
3) MAYBE, that Harry belongs to Gryffindor (pulling the sword from the hat)
and these discoveries 'foreshaow' that Harry is the heir to Gryffindor and therefore, Voldemort and Harry have been destined for centuries, to fight it out. ??? What was that prophecy that broke when they were all surrounded in the room of prophecies say ?? something about "The final defeat of evil..."?? Do remember the one? It was when they smashed them all to create a diversion to try and get away from the Deatheaters...??? I wonder if that is related??

Maybe the 'final evil' is the whole 'dark arts fascinated, pure-blood obsessed' eliticism and Harry will rid it as he brings down Voldemort and the pure-blood Deatheaters. Whattya think???

If Harry was the heir of Gryffindor, why would the sorting hat want to put him in Slytherin? No, He-who-must-not-be-named may be the heir of Slytherin, but Harry has to be more of a hero all can identify with. I would be suprised if the title of "Prince" has something to do with anything we've read in any of the books. Starting with OotP, these last books will pull out all stops. the start may've been slow, but its all out from here.
